Alright, I've been waiting to see if a big 7/7/07 event would pop up somewhere in the Midwest. Since it hasn't, let's do something in St Louis.

The big question is do we want a 1 day local-only event, or put together a bigger midwest 2 day event? I'm down for running either.

So let's hear some ideas on what to do. Something we definately gotta do soon, either as part of this event or some other is the Grand Prix Speedways out in Earth City - http://www.grandprixspeedways.com/

The guys in the race club hit GPS regularly. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to get out there. I hear it's a blast. I'm good for the 7th.

I was thinking the two day thing would be good...if we could get enough people to go for it. Hard enough getting a group around here together just to meet for drinks. The kart place sounds good to me for a start.

 

There's also a massive parking lot at the karting place - I'm sure we could section off an area to all park together and have a show. There's also a bar in the place for those who don't want to drive carts.

I'm planning on making this an all Mazda thing, so will invite the piston guys too

If we do the 2-day, what are some ideas for Sunday?

 

More carting? j/k Waterlogged and I are getting together tomorrow with some other 8 guys. I'll see what we can brainstorm.

 

Please do discuss it with the group - ideas for a one day or a two day event. Even if we just do a one day, we could have time after the carting and car show to drive over to Creve Coeur Park and have a BBQ.

Have fun at the get-together tomorrow! I knew you guys were planning, but I'm heading out of town for the weekend, or I would have come too.

 

We'll definitely discuss it tomorrow. So far I'm liking the ideas thrown up so far. The Creve Couer idea after karting sounds perfect since it's so close. I'll talk to the other Mazda guys at the race on Memorial Day, too. There's also a new guy in the race club that brought his new Mazdaspeed 3. The meet in July would be a good chance for him to show it off a bit.

 

Seems like we have a few more interested parties as of Saturday's gathering. Still trying to think of some ideas though...karting still seems tops on the list.

 

That weekend is the St Louis Microbrew Fest at Forest Park. Just thought that might be something people'd be interested in.

Okay, back to the subject at hand... July 7th, 2007. It's great for the RX-7s to have a get-together on 7/7/07 and let us crash their party. So let's get off our collective asses and make sure we attend. Perhaps we could even form a nice little rivalry between the 7 owners and us 8 owners at Grand Prix Speedways. Should at least add a bit of fun to it.

For those of you who missed it, the MicroBrew Fest was a good time Saturday. The four of us that made it: WaterLogged, Terrets, Fisherdn, and myself...all consumed our fair share of fresh brewed alcoholic beverages. Got to visit with good people, the good brews got to visit our bellies, and luckily no one had to visit the porcelain god. Terrets, hope you continued drinking to your heart's content at the ball game since the Cards were unable to pull out a win for you. Fisher and WaterLogged got some nice compliments on the 8's, and I believe we are all up for doing it again next year with hopefully an even bigger representation.

 

Yeah it was a good time. Drunken annoying people were at a minimum when I left. I went from that to a political fundraiser with free beer to the game with free beer. Living the dream! Somehow I wasn't devestatingly hungover on sun.

 

It's the free factor. Makes it go down so much smoother. Less of an after effect.

 

So...getting back to topic:
What are the official plans and who is all going? To my understanding we are still doing the indoor karting?

 

i'll be there with my winning blue RX8 i live in the st peters area i have my 8 but No more navigation ;( o well .. i hope to do guages now up on the dash!
