Do you still want to do that? Any particular place and time in mind?

I'm giving more consideration to going up Friday afternoon to see some practice and qualifying. Anybody interested?
Friday is out for me but Sat. is golden.

Rt. 36 this Sat. around 1230p-ish for a bite to eat then? Ra/ wife and Mark will be with us as well.

^^^We'll be there.

Also, are we planning on cooking out afterwards? What is everyone bringing? Apologies if it was mentioned earlier in the thread.

First we need to decide if we want to sit down or do fast food.

Sit down options are Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel or Waffle House. Haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years so I'd be up for that or the always satisfying Bobby E's.

Fast food options are standard issue: McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, White Castle, Wendy's?, Arby's? etc.

I'm easily pleased so if you have a hunger for one in particular I'll probably be down for it.

Beth,

There is no more opportunity for advance tickets, but you can easily buy tickets at the gate on Saturday. Make sure you get a paddock pass as well. Once you are in, follow the signs for infield parking and there should be a sign for "RX-8Club.com" Depending on when you arrive, you should see several 8s there.

Once parked, look around for tents with Mazda/Mazdaspeed banners on them - you should find some friendly people there!

Stay tuned to this thread for more info...feel free to PM me if you need help.

I'd prefer the sit-down stuff, but we might be better off time-wise with the fast stuff. BK @12:30?

Hey Beth,

I may end up having 2 extra tickets. I won't know for sure until I get there at the track Will Call office around 8am. The tickets cost me $35 each with shipping and include the paddock passes. I will let you have them for the face value of $30 each.

If you would be intersted PM me with your cell number. I'll let you know around 8am Saturday morning.

Will

-ps Jeff, Anthony and Ra you guys are killin' me...I'm the first timer and going to beat you there by 4-5 hours. Geez...leave the padawan to get lost in the forest on his own.

I'll be sure to save you a parking space! See you guys there!!

OK, ladies and gentleman, here is an update. I am still working on the shirts, like everybody else, Mazda has been hit by budget cuts, etc. I am looking at other alternatives at this point. See e mail: Hi Marlon,

Unfortunately, my supply of shirts is depleted, as is my budget. Did you get any response from Kim?

As far as the Cook out, we can do it on Sunday and we can compile a list tomorrow. Looks like we'll have a pretty good turn out this weekend. If anyone needs to reach me, here is my cell 440-382-3636. I am bringing my Speed Protege, it is Spicy Orange, so you can't miss it.

Mmmmm....White Castles has my vote. We'll all be in for a fun ride in the MZ5 if we carpool.

Marlon is at the track.

they did not put a sign up designating the rx8 club corral parking ... so just drive to the infield parking, by turns 3 and 4 and look for the spicy orange protege and that's our spot.

no tents set up as yet either, nor mazda signs ... just spicy marking the spot.

have a great day!! i'll be down mid afternoon ...

see you at the races!!

John and I are headed down for sure - leaving around 9:30 from the McDonalds @ I-71 and RT 18. Not sure if we qualify as a caravan.

Thanks to all that came out, the teams really appreciated and look forward to us coming back next year. I hope everyone got their picture or an autograph from Patrick, as he asked me if all of us were taken care of.

Jeff, did your wife get a picture and or an autograph? Let me know if she did not and I will take care of it for her. We are working on a few other things for this year and I will keep you guys informed.

thanks marlon. It was a good way to spend a Saturday. I really enjoyed the access we had to the speedsource guys. Shame the weather took a crap on us the moment the race started but what ya gonna do.

Did anyone get pics of all the 8s?

Marlon,

Many thanks for not only helping to set this up but for the time you spent with us on Saturday introducing us to the teams and just generally sheparding us around. I especially enjoyed spending time with Nick Ham, Craig Stone from Racers Edge and the ROAR Racing guys. Hanging out with Craig Stanton after stumbling upon him at the Scion KONI car was an unexpected treat - he's a super nice guy.

Anyway, Marlon, you made the day very special for Marina, Andy and I. Thanks again.

Lauri and I always enjoy sharing our passion with all of our Mazda friends, we get a great deal of joy when we see people get excited about racing and Mazda as well. I can't thank the Roar Racing for the use of the #60 car, Adam and Robert are great guys and they appreciated everyone stopping by and showing their support.

Also, they have a crew member that was very instrumental in helping us, he even owns an 8 too! Great times + great people + plus great cars=Succesful event!

Stay tuned for more, as I always have my hand in something Mazda related!

Sure seemed like you guys had a target on your back on Sunday. I hope that the rest of your season goes better. I am trying to see if I can make one more race this year but we shall see. Until then...good luck and keep on Zoomin'
