I've been searching around, and I'm trying to locate the nearest track for public. I have learned there are ones in Wichita and St. Louis. Those are both around 4 hours away from me. I'm looking for something much closer if I can. I have a drag strip 30 minutes away from me...go figure, I live near the south :P

Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks for the link. I located an OK looking one that is in Jennings OK, but that is 2 hours away *We've 1/2ed the time!* and another one in Topeka KS which is 3 hours.

It's in Jennings OK! I plan on either going this month or next *depending on if a friend can go/money*

 

Autocross is perfect for a noob. It will teach you car control and it's limits before you move to the higher speed stuff.

Yeah, I have no intentions in pushing limits on when I drive, but I have a great feel for the car the way it is. Plus, I get real worried when doing things in my car...it's my baby!

Yeah, I'll hit you up. I don't know exactly when it's going to be, but it will be soon. My buddy has a Mustang GT and he wants to tag along with it just to see if he can keep up around a track with turns

I here Hallett is a very safe track.

 

Hallett is a good track. Haven't witnessed any major problems there, nor have I been involved in any there - something that I can't say about IRP in Indianapolis... If you get the chance to drive the track, by all means do it. Heartland Park is outside of Topeka. They reworked the asphalt there a few years ago and its awesome! Mid America Motorplex is nice, but might be a bit too much of a drive from Joplin.
