Question Race tracks in Ohio?

I've never raced on a track before but it's something that I definitly want to experience. Where in Ohio, and specifically closer to Columbus, can I go to take my 8 for a spin on a track??

Me too! We need to get a bunch together & go to Mid-Ohio. Maybe we can join forces with the Buckeye Miata Club?

We still have a few slots open on the road course/drivers school for the Rotary Revolution!

Come on out for the weekend, it's a great time. (Click my sig or PM me for more information.

Mid ohio is a world class track. Putnam is very nice. IRP has a long straight that lets you open it up.

I was in the same boat as you---I wanted to track more. Problem is, it is very very expensive. Average price is over $350 and into 1k if you attend a school (skip barber etc...) We added the track portion to the Revolution with the dual purpose of bringing the price down and getting you some drivers education which makes it easier for you to track with other groups. Most groups will not let you track unless you have previous in car education. Attendees to the Revo track event are eligible for other Lateral G track events during the year at a discount.

You can attend any number of club events at mid ohio. Some are better than others. Most require previous track experience. Some do have school portions. Open lapping runs around $350 per day depending on the club. I used to be able to open lap with the BMW Club of Columbus at Mid Ohio for $150---they raised their price to $375 last year. There is also the the mustang club, lotus club, apex racing, porsche club, and a few other clubs that experienced drivers can open lap with. Lapping events generally do not have instructors. Every club is different. Go to the track web site and look at their schedule..they will generally have links to all the different race groups that are there during the year. You can research the group and find out the costs.

The rx8 is awesome on the track! Good luck

I was looking around and found that you can do a weekend school through the BMW club August 14 & 15. If I remember right, about $350 for the weekend. I am very interested and will probably pursue that option.

Why don't you come on out to the Rotary Revolution and caravan with all the Ohio rotary owners? When for $200 (drivers school price) + $55 (general registration price) you could not only attend the drivers school we put on and learn to drive the 2.5 road course, but you would also get two days of open drag racing, numerous runs (all you can get in one day) on two separate autocross tracks, attend our rotary related seminars, see what "toys" our sponsors have for your car, etc... :D
