New Rotary Club In Wichita Kansas

Hey all I am on here to see if there is anyway that people would be interested in getting a new rotary club started in Wichita Kansas. I have a dealership in Wichita that is interested in helping sponsor some things. I know that there are a lot of rotary's here because I have seen them. I was part of TVRX8 club out of Huntsville Al before I moved back to Kansas so I know how much fun these clubs can be. If anyone is interested PM me back asap.

Thanks
Chuck

I just joined the club a while ago, but if there's still any interest in this, I'm up for it

Tribulation 06-30-2009 10:58 PM

Im pretty new here and just bought my RX8 a couple weeks ago. I am stationed at Ft.Riley and know a couple rotary owners up here. We would probably be able to attend some events. Just keep us posted.

TrevorsTII 07-01-2009 01:04 PM

Hi I would be interested in coming to gatherings and such. LMK

eleven11 07-05-2009 11:17 PM

cq5chand 07-06-2009 09:52 PM

well I am glad to see that there is some pull for this. what day works best for everyone.

TrevorsTII 07-09-2009 04:12 PM

Weekends.

Rotarypower18 07-11-2009 09:30 PM

Weekends are good.

mxdeb 01-30-2010 07:40 PM

RX8 noob ... Just got my first 8(blue 2004) would love to hang out with other 8 owners.

I have seen several others in East Wichita, lets rejuvinate this group!

Rotary REVolution 01-31-2010 04:19 PM

+1^

wichita rx-8 owners have been inactive for far too long... let's actually get something started ^_^

anybody in? when is anybody available?

Rotarypower18 02-01-2010 08:46 AM

Count me in. I've seen a lot of RX-8's around Wichita.... Weekends are good.

Rotary REVolution 02-01-2010 10:28 AM

weekends are best for me as well. how soon would anybody want to do this? and are there any ideas on where we'd actually go?

seeing as there aren't exactly any "scenic drives" in wichita, i'm imagining meeting up for either lunch or dinner somewhere possibly followd by some cruisin' around the town? any thoughts?

mxdeb 02-01-2010 06:37 PM

Weekends work for us too. We could meet for lunch or early dinner. Don't know what you guys like to eat but we're quite flexible. Old Chicago has good parking. Granite City has awesome Idaho nachos... I cannot speak for the West Side chow? Just got my 8 back tonight, hope they fixed her right this time LOL! What MPG's are you Wichita folks getting with your 8?

mxdeb 02-02-2010 10:01 PM

My little blue 8 is back in the shop 30 hours after I picked her up ... CEL and engine shutter. Maybe I have it back by the time we figure out where to meet, if not I'll be there in the station wagon loaner?! Any more ideas of where to eat/meet?

Rotary REVolution 02-02-2010 10:39 PM

wow, you really aren't having the best of luck with your 8 so far =/ sorry to hear that.

either of the places you mentioned to meet would be fine for me... just waiting/hoping to hear back from others as well. pretty much all there is to do in wichita is eat out at restaurants and/or go see a movie lol, so there are plenty of nice places to eat, and i'm fine with any of them

idk about when. it'd be nice if you could actually bring your 8 to the 8 meeting haha >.<

Rotarypower18 02-03-2010 07:53 AM

I am good with any of those places mentioned. Ted's Montana Grill is another good place... I would rather if we could wait until the roads aren't nasty or full of salt becuase I don't care to drive my 8 on that.

I know what it is like to have your 8 in the shop... I had mine in the shop for 34 days 9 hours and 38 minutes to be exact. My '09 had shifting problems ever since I bought her new and I waited awhile to take her in because I knew that I would be without her awhile but never dreamed that long... I can tell the rest some other time.

I hope your 8 gets fixed for good this time!!

I have a good friend that has an 8 too and he would probably be able to come??

eleven11 02-03-2010 10:12 AM

im in too, i've been waiting for this, so whatever works for you guys im in

eleven11 02-03-2010 11:47 AM

dude...

I dont really care for eating, i can eat anytime of the day, i wanna cruise around and take pics of all the cars together, and park somewhere where there's a lot of traffic, i mean if we"re starting this club we want to show it off right? how about some club stickers??

Rotary REVolution 02-03-2010 01:57 PM

i hear you on the eating thing. we don't have to do that if nobody wants to. i was just throwing out ideas for a first meet, and the idea of a meal was just for meet and greet... so we could talk/get acquainted and such.

if we actually get this club going, a club vinyl somewhere down the line might be a pretty a cool idea - something we could discuss

i agree with rotarypower that we should hold off on our first meet until some of this nasty weather clears up. that way we could have our 8's nice and clean and get some group photos as well. plus, that might give mxdeb's rx-8 time to get fixed

looks like we've got at least four (potentially five including rotarypower's friend) commited members so far... let's keep the members and ideas coming and maybe try to set a date for our first meet?? ideas on that?

mxdeb 02-03-2010 05:52 PM

LOL Thanks Rotary REVolution! I want to get her cleaned up! Hubby bought me a ton of Maguires for my b-day. I want to give her a good bath and clay and wax. That is IF they get her up and running properly. Today they finally changed one of the coils and the plug wire(s). They are keeping it to run some more tests. Hoping they check this site out, I keep telling them to.

Can't wait to see you guys' cars! It would be cool to have group pix. I would put a club sticker on...wonder if we can find a mutually acceptable color!?

cq5chand 02-04-2010 08:02 PM

hey all I am totally interested in getting together. i would love to get out of this crappy weather first.

Rotary REVolution 02-05-2010 02:51 AM

i'm sure we could come up with some cool designs/colors for a group logo. seems like most people are in agreeance on waiting to meet until there is better weather. shall we pick the location and just leave the time and date tba for now?

cq5chand 02-06-2010 11:41 AM

if we have five cars there is really no where that we can't go but if we have around 10 cars we are really all going to want to be close to each other

Rotary REVolution 02-06-2010 03:20 PM

yeah, that's a good point. so maybe the first thing we should do is see who is definitely in on this and planning to attend - basically get a member list going.

i stole this from the vegas lounge. it'd be nice for everyone to fill it out so we can compile them and see where we are at, or if you want, you can just send me your information, and i can fill them out/compile them.

Gentlemen, good luck on your club. If you wish to get a message board going you can use phpbb. It's free, but you will have to do a little setup work. That's what we (evolvchicago) are using at the moment until we have the funds to use vbulletin. We are also incorporated as a not for profit organization. I don't know if there are any other rotary organizations in your area, but you may not want to limit it to RX8's. Consider including the RX7's too. While EvolvChicago is a rotary club, we allow all Mazda cars to be involved in the club. This makes the club more appealing to the dealerships.
All the Directors of our club are rotary owners.

Took my 8 to Mazda after Carmax got done messing with it. They replaced 2 motor mounts, reflashed it to MSP?16 and replaced the cat. WOW I liked it before but now I LOVE this car. Can a car get more aggressive?! It's quieter, less vibe and more powerful in all gears but especially in the lower gears/RPM's!!! I am betting the MPG's will be a lot better too, have not run a full tank but the gage is already reporting good news. Guys at Davis Moore Mazda were top rate and friendly to boot!

I think it might be towards the end of March or begging of April until it warms up a bit and this winter weather moves out. Pretty sure as long as it's a weekend my friend will be able to join with his RX-8.

Rotary REVolution 02-17-2010 05:17 PM

glad to hear that you finally got your 8 back mxdeb! hopefully you can actually drive it for a while this time lol.

and yeah, it's still pretty cool, but at least the snow/ice is cleared up. we'll just have to wait and see.

i will update my first post here (2nd post of the thread) with our members. i will put them in order of who posted on the thread first. thanks for filling those out! i think it will help to get things going once we know who all's here

so why dont we decide who"s gonna take care of the setup, who we are gonna give our numbers to and contacts us about info, and when we"re gonna do this, its supposed to snow this week but im sure the weekend after will be fine, lets just do it already, btw, getting paint off rims is a bitch, now i have to buy a new one cause the idiot that i paid to paint them in the first place decided to sand one of the rims with i dont know but it scratched the crap out of it, so to anybody who's thinking about getting ur wheels painted, dont do it.

cq5chand 03-22-2010 03:59 PM

hey does the 10th of April work for everyone it would be a good chance for us all to get together in some fairly nice weather.

mxdeb 03-23-2010 06:06 AM

I'm out April 10th, 17th and the 18th.

cq5chand 03-23-2010 05:02 PM

what about April 3rd

Rotary REVolution 03-23-2010 05:41 PM

april 3rd would probably work for me

Rotarypower18 03-23-2010 10:25 PM

April 3rd should work for me and my friend that has an RX-8.

mxdeb 03-24-2010 05:38 PM

The 3rd works for us.

cq5chand 03-25-2010 11:55 AM

where would everyone like to meet up at?

Rotary REVolution 03-27-2010 04:30 PM

no one wants to speak up lol. i really can't think of anything either though -.-

the weather is kind of crappy again today... hopefully it clears up by next saturday

mxdeb 03-28-2010 08:28 AM

OK, so things are heating up for us, horse show season starts April 10 so we will be busy but for sure want to meet with other 8 owners! What about the Warren Theater East parking lot? Would they let us use the overflow area? Or if we wanted more attention Walmart East parking lot out by the Burger King? Or for that matter the Sportsman's Warehouse is empty now. I am sure we could go there without being in anyone's way??? Not sure where everyone lives. Maybe somewhere more west? It would be cool if we could use the Mazda lot but I don't know anyone there. Going to be there tomorrow for rear tires and touch up on the paint... maybe could ask if you guys are in? By the way what time would we be meeting? 12? 1? 2?

Rotary REVolution 03-28-2010 02:31 PM

i guess it wouldnt' hurt to go ahead and talk to somebody at mazda about it while you're there, but i kind of think somwhere more public than that might be better just in hopes that maybe some local 8 owners (unaware of this group and website... there are obviously a bunch) would happen to see us and maybe even stop by to see what's going on ^_^ i'd be fine with any of the places you mentioned. and same for the times... pretty much anytime around noon or after would be good.
