Mid-Ohio Anyone?

Hey guys! I wanted to know if any of you guys would like to go up to Mid-Ohio on May 21st for ALMS weekend? It's the Speed World Touring car weekend too.

I'm getting people from e46fanatics and bimmerforums, as well as people from ohioVW together so we can caravan up there. I figured you RX8 guys might want to go and support the RX8 teams, plus it would be good to get all of us car guys together.

Let me know what you think, and maybe we can start a list. :o

So no takers? I thought some of you 8 drivers would be down with meeting eachother, and going on a drive up to Mid-Ohio. If anyone is intrested (besides Kicker and Huhwha) just let me know because I kinda wanted to get a feel for how many people are coming so that way we don't leave without anyone.

Well I probably wouldn't be in the club package with the RX8 group considering I drive a Integra. Just posted it on my Ohio Hondas website though (http://www.ohiohondas.com for those interested)

Thx for the info H

Small update - this looks less likely for me now. Just found out I have to have surgery on the 12th. Doctor says 10 days of no activity after, so it doesn't look likely.

Sucks to be me I guess.

Anywhere from $300 - $500 depending on what club you join up with.
Doesn't have to be a Mazda ro RX-8 club. My friends first lapping day w/ his civic was with a Mustang group that needed to fill up some spots.

If I could drive the course, I'd be there in a heartbeat. I need to nail down that opportunity when it comes along for sure.

Keep in mind the ALMS thing is a "Parade" lap, not a race lap.

Juat an old Baby Boomer's recollection, but back in '71 my roommate had a '69 Vette and we went to Mid Oho for the Cart weekend ( I think) and the Vettes got to take a "parade lap". I rode with him, and when they hit the back straight EVERYONE opened it up. What a ride! Maybe they control it a lot more now, but I have a great memory at Mid Ohio! - My favorite track!

Good Luck!

Nice stang. My little brother has a '69 coupe that's just getting finished being restored.
Nice 16th birthday present huh? (Little B@stard!) LOL!

Back on topic, I heard also the straight right before the Key Hole you can kinda hold back and open it up a little, as well as on the back straight. Just some food for thought.

I'd love to see the keyhole first hand to, since it's off-camber.
After further thought tho I'm just gonna save my pennies for an actual track day.

Okay if any of you guys are intrested. I think the drive is going to happen two days. Saturday and Sunday. As far as meeting location yet I'm not sure (But I'm thinking Polaris Mall). I'm pretty sure the Speed Touring car race is on Saturday, and the ALMS race (the one with the RX8's is on Sunday) If you're intrested, let me know what kind of car you drive so that way we don't leave without waiting for you

Also, Kicker, you can come one of those days and the price isn't going to be $90....I think it would be around $25

I'd still like to do this, and bring my 21 year old son with me. I'm gonna have to make the call at the last minute though, after I see how my recovery from surgery goes. My son may be getting his wisdon teeth out as well, so events are conspiring against me.

If all else fails, that Cleveland event in June looks good.

Okay... let's get some dates and times set in stone. Since we'll be meeting so early on Saturday and Sunday we can just meet at the Waffle House across from Polaris Mall. Let's plan on LEAVING there at 8:30AM on Saturday May 21st. So, If you want to grab a bite before we leave be there between 7:30 and 8:00AM. The ALMS Practice starts at 9:35 and the Formula BMW qualifying starts at 10:45, so we will get there in time for that.
Here's the breakdown for the weekend...

SATURDAY MAY 21st
Meeting at:
WAFFLE HOUSE
1183 Polaris Parkway
Columbus, OH 43240
7:30-8:30AM
Leave at 8:30AM

Let's plan on leaving there at 8:00AM on Sunday May 22nd to make it to the SPEED world challenge touring race at 9:20AM.

SUNDAY MAY 22nd
Meeting at:
WAFFLE HOUSE
1183 Polaris Parkway
Columbus, OH 43240
7:00-8:00AM
Leave at 8:00AM

Let's get a list started of who wants to meet up for the drive on Saturday and/or Sunday. Either post on here, or PM me so I know who to wait for. Hope to see a good turnout that weekend.
