Everyone read my last post!
Hey, I have been doing autocross for 7 years now. I've been to Nationals 4 times and have been well placed and recognized. So when I tell you a few things, I'm letting you know that I've been around the course so to say. I saw some things that were being posted on 502streetscene and wanted to clarify for you.
Most of the guys giving you advice are ones that are more worried about national competition than getting started and learning, so I'd take it with a grain of salt. I am going to run my completely STOCK RX-8 in STX this year because I did not have the money to buy race tires and I'm about 5 months pregnant (not going to change into race tires at each event.) STX allows modifications to an extent, but if you are new to the sport, it doesn't matter if you are in BS or STX or some other higher class, you are there for seat time and to learn. Personally, I think that a stock RX-8 will do fine locally in STX. I'm too much of a competitor to take a car to a fight where I don't have a chance. In your first year or so, just concentrate on learning the basics of being behind the wheel, and then worry about adjusting the car. I wouldn't put too much thought into anything else besides a good alignment and a good set of tires. If you find a driver school, especially an Evolution driver's school, do it. It would be a bigger investment than anything you could do to the car. This sport is more about the driver than the car.
I should be out next Sunday. I did not go out in the cold in my condition, but you will see me. Silver RX-8 with STX 42. I have only run the car one time in an event, so I'm kinda learning to work with it. I think that it will be an easy car to drive. I'm happy to give some instructions or ride along, I can actually be a better teacher than driver at times. .

Sounds awesome! Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday! As for everyone else, you guys should come out! Even just to watch but it'll be tempting not to run LOL.
I was gonna go but I hurt my back... This sucks. lol... Hope you guys have fun! If you're not going to run you may want to bring one of those fold out umbrellas to stay out of the wet weather... I hear it's supposed to rain tomorrow...

Hey guys. New RX-8 owner here. Have driven RX-7's for the past 20 years. Got a red 2004 GT, red/black interior, MT, 37,000. Went up to Peoria, IL to get it. I have read many things about the car on the forums on this site. Started pre-mixing. I think it has had all recalls done. Am taking it to my Mazda tech on Dixie on Tuesday. He's worked on my cars for a long time. Even though I have driven rotary for a long time, I am NOT a do-it-yourselfer. So I am looking for someone who can do this clutch pedal removal; spot weld or add Mazsport brackets, and reinstall. Have any of you done this.? It is definitely a problem that I would prefer not to have happen. On, and I'm not looking for a freebie. I just don't think this is something I can do.
Thanks and I'd appreciate any info you could give me on this or anything else about the car.
David

pianoman... i installed the Fluid motorsports bracket not too long ago.... its not too hard... the hardest thing for me was getting it reinstalled... the studs kept wanting to fall back through the firewall. you are a little far away from me, but i would be glad to help through email or the board here any way I can.
I just recently got a 04 vred gt. I've noticed that there haven't been any plans to do a Louisville meet on here for a while. Anyone interested in doing one this summer? I'm in the highlands, which is pretty central, so I could meet anywhere in town.
Hopefully Tim still has his 8. I live out on National Turnpike between Auburndale and Fairdale. If I don't have to work, I'd be down for a meet this upcoming Saturday/Sunday. I'm on jury duty so my schedule is kind of messed up at the moment at least through the week days. Let me know if you guys are interested, we can maybe meet up where we usually do at the Meijer's parking lot just off the Preston Hwy/Gene Snyder exit. I'm pretty sure that's about the same distance for everyone and last 2 times we met up there, they didn't give us crap so I'm thinking we could go cruising and then grab a bite to eat afterward.
Yup i still got the 8, ima throw it in the booth and paint after i get my dads explorer painted. Then ill put it back togethor n meet up with you guys more often.. Really need some coilovers asap if anyone local has some lmk 5026812668
Hows it going on getting the 8 crowd together? I live around a hour and a half away from Louisville .. Its a straight shot from my house to drive there!
I actually bought my 8 in Clarksville, IN right over the bridge :P

No luck as of lately... I'd say for as least often as the other peeps from louisville check this thread, if you guys want to pm me your phone numbers I can text you guys that way we can get a turn out better than just two people. I'd like to have a meet just to hang out and maybe go driving afterward but getting people together on this board is pretty hard.
Why dont any of you ever goto 502 meets? everyone meets up every friday saturday and sunday at the whitecastle in clarksville indiana. Usually alot of people there mostly hondas n acuras tho. But im paintin my 8 tommorow. then gotta throw it back togethor n get the car pc workin n ill finnally start drivin it again and will be more then happy to meet with you fellas.
