Hi, I'm new here and also new to the RX-8 world. I really like the car and have already met some people in my area that are also apart of the Rx-8 world. Wanted to meet up with some people in the KS area. I live in Overland Park and would prefer to keep it close. Let me know on what thoughts you have.

If anyone knows of any others in the area who have not been to this thread yet, I would suggest that you might tap them on the shoulder and see if they are interested. I have sent emails to several on this site that I thought were in the KC area. I probably didn't get everyone.

The only person i know personally with an RX-8 is SHOWOFF & Mrs. SHOWOFF. The 2 of them are really into the car scene.

 

Whatever works for everyone else, I've already met PHA RX-8. We spent like an hour and a half at like 3:00am talking, I really liked his car (made me go purchase the fuel door) But also, I have seen a red Mazdaspeed RX-8 in town. Twice I think, and I've nbeen working both times, so I havent been able to go catch up. Anyone know who this is? Its the Olathe area. Oh and by the way, I work for Lowes (primary job) Delivering and installing appliances. Its hard work, but its decent pay for my age. Only downside is that I never know what time I get off, Lowes has some stupid "next day delivery service on all in-stock items) So I could work 4 maybe 5 hours (hahahaha, never happens) or up to 16.5 hours. Just never know. Anyhow, weekdays woul probably work best for me.

It seems that weekdays are encouraged. I would discourge Fridays myself. Does anyone have trouble making time on a sat or sun?

Perhaps we should take a poll and see who prefers weekdays (evenings most likely), or weekends?

I don't have a preference myself, just as long as its not Friday or Sunday evenings. And since I work during the day (8 hours or more regularly) that would leave weekday evenings.

Given the lateness in the week, and that myrx8 can't make it this weekend, this gives next monday as the first possible opportunity.

 

I am game for Monday night. I remember last year some people were getting together at the Starbucks near the Sprint campus. This was with another group of cars also. Does anyone remember that?

If yes, then I only saw the discussion after it had already happened.

I would like to make this one. Though I hope I don't bore anyone. I'm not exactly the "hop up the car" type of person. I'm a little older and more conservative than the younger group.

That's my club. Imprimis. We meet at Starbucks every Thurs.

I can't make any meets on the weekend for a few weeks, Joplin this weekend, NOPI MW Nationals next weekend.

If you all just want to get together and talk, we could do it at my place, if you want to meet somewhere, our club has a great relationship with Starbucks and they would love to see us all there.

Just picked up my new 8 last night. I'm from Wichita, but originally from KC. If it's on a weekend, I'd definitely try to make it. Ironically, I'm coming to OP this weekend.

I hope that Chris doesn't get mad at me for this, but I thought I'd post the Starbucks information for him. I appologize if he wanted to do this himself.

The starbucks is on 119th street in Overland Park. It is just east of the Metcalf and 119th intersection. Between Glenwood Ave and Lamar Ave. I am not sure, but I think it is on the south side of 119th street. But no guarantees.

He believes that it is common for folks to show up between 7pm and 10pm.

I plan on attending tonight to see what people have done to their cars and hear their stories. I plan on learning a lot from the experience of those who have modified before me.

I am not seeing any bites for this weekend. While we may not get a large crowd together, perhaps a handful of us is all that we can muster.

In addition to the thursday get together, all those in favor of another one this weekend please say something. And perhaps share what times are "bad" for each of us. As for, me I think I can attend both. And sunday evenining is out for me. Leaving sat (anytime) or sun afternoon.

 

You've got the streets wrong, it's between Metcalf and Nall. South side of the street though.

From the North: 35 S. exit 69 S./Overland Parkway , Exit 119th St. turn left (east) on 119th. Pass Metcalf pass the Cheesecake Factory and it is on the RH side just after Cheesecake factory.

 

I wont' have the 8 back for 2 weeks so I'll just be there with the Eclipse as long as I am done re-doing my graphics by then.
