Indy RX-8 Club... Moving On...

Ok gang... so we all have met and we are having a good time hanging out... so now the question is whats next? Do we all want to just meet like once a month? Twice a month? All that stuff...

I guess Im kinda taking the lead here, and by all means anyone that wants to help plan this stuff.. .by all means JOIN IN! =)

I think its pretty clear that everyone has their lives to live... but maybe we can all say that we should meet on the first Sunday of the month for dinner and a local cruise and picture taking session.

We could then meet on the last Sunday of the month for a morning cruise and lunch. Of course you come when you can... and everyone is welcome! This would give everyone at least one opportunity each month to hang with the group. We could decide on anything else, like poker nights, bbq's, and other stuff at the meetings.

So far here is who we know of that have shown up for at least one of the last two club meets:

Alex -- Gray Ghost
Kyle -- SmackTard
Frank -- Flyboyindy
Jay -- Vectorwolf
Kristin -- Broken Angel
Aron -- Bigdog6060
Jeremy --05WhiteRX8
Jim -- Nordic RX-8
Joel -- Indy8
Michelle -- Michelle
Pat -- RX7 Zoom

Here are the folks that have been to at least one of the cruises:

John -- Foxman
ZZ8 -- Marcelo

And then there are the guys we have heard from...but never met

Scott -- SAFD1450
ZoomerJOE -- Joe (well, we met Joe... he just hasnt made it out yet!)
Calf_PC12 -- Ryan
Indy8 -- ?
TitaniumRX8MD -- Kevin

The other thing would be... do we want to have cool stuff like Indy RX-8 Stickers made? Or T-Shirts/Hoodies? A website for posting pics... club information.. and that kinda stuff?

To do that we would have to all pitch in.... Im thinking if we all pitched in like 5 or 10 bucks, we could get a website, and some decals made for sure...

With 18 members, at $10 bucks each, im pretty sure we can get decals and a web site created for all of us to use.

And finally, if Im taking this too seriously... just let me know... I seem to be the outspoken one of the group, but Im really having a good time meeting all of you and getting to know you! I think we have a great group of people... now we just need to decide if we really want this to be an ongoing organized group... I think it will be a blast!

*whew*... Ok, im done...

I think its a great idea. I have not gotten a chance to meet everyone (anyone) yet, but I will soon. I am in the Army so it makes comming to meets hard, but I like the whole idea of some kind of structure. I think $5 or $10 is very reasonable. Good luck and see you all soon.

Next meet- Fast Times. 'nuff said. :D

And I'm happy to pitch in however. I just suck at planning, so I doubt I'll come up with much to do. lol

Fast Times is scary! lol. And I can pitch in some money as long as I have it. I hate not having a job.

10 bucks is no problem, and i'm definetly having a good time hanging out with the group, hopefully we can start getting more people to show up....i do like the idea of some structure to it, but i also like the idea of deciding mid-week that we want to cruise on sunday and just going out for a drive....which we can do both...looking forward to the poker night and taking franks money though

I agree with Frank, we have a great group of people. I think that having the chance to meet twice a month is a good idea. I have too many things going on now and this would give me and everyone else the chance to meet at least once a month.

About donating $10 is fine with me. I think we should have clear what we want to do first and how far we want to go. Goodies (like t-shirts and decals) are good. I would like to have some t-shirts (better than decals). About the web site, if all we are looking for is a place to post pictures, we have tons of “free” options to consider first. If we are looking for something more elaborate, like a light version of the rx8club.com, it will require more time and resources, or may be something in between, meaning a place to post group pictures and a dedicated place to show off our cars, here are some examples:

http://www.westcoast6.com/
http://www.midland6.com/
http://www.eastcoast6.com/

These are smaller sites (compared to mazda6club.com), also more dedicated sites.

I don’t think you are taking it SO seriously Frank. I agree with Jeremy in that having something more structured will be nice. We need to be careful and find a good balance.

BTW, the pictures from last night are very good pictures.

Wow... ok at what Ive started Im glad we got everyone talking! I dont know if everyone will always agree on what we do. Please dont get me wrong, when I say "structure"... I dont think we should ever start a meet by saying....."Now, madam secretary...Will you please read the minutes of our last meeting"...

But its obvious some people are looking to be in club... others just want to drive around =) Which is great... the more the merrier! But since we will no doubt get bigger, (I got 5 emails today asking when and where we are meeting!) its clear we will have to have a better way of meeting. And as far as logos, t-shirts, stickers.... Whatever we decide, it will be based upon who shows up at the meets and who puts up some cash

That being said... everyone please email me your member information... and if you dont want information posted, please let me know that as well. Ive been posting using everyones last name, but if you dont want your last name, i will just leave your first name on there.

by structure, i didn't mean having a secretary and taking minutes and stuff like that, i just meant a more defined time, like first and last weekends of the month, that we are definetly meeting, anything else we do in between is just a bonus... decals and t-shirts are definetly a good idea

Jeremy, I understood just fine what you meant by structure (set days and whatever else comes is a “bonus”).

Frank, first names are good enough, I don’t think we need last names posted. When you say e-mail me your member information, what do you mean? What do you need?

What information do you want placed in your member profile.

If you dont want to give your last name thats fine, I will leave yours without a last name.

Lemmie know when to send off the $10. Once I joined the "Dukes of Hazzard" fan club as a gag, and I got a glossy photo of a dozen General Lees all lined up (yup, that's really all I got for my $15). Any chance I can get anything that cool with this club? :p

From now on I will post everything to our website rather than posting it on here. Make sure you bookmark it, as we dont have our domain name yet.

Thanks,
Frank

Add me to a mailing list if you have one. I have been inactive as my car is down and I have been bound up with back surgery for some time. I will donate some Revo goodies for you as soon as my seven is up and around or as soon as I can get out to an 8 event. If some one wants to come over I will give it to you now.

Goodness knows I have tried to keep the Indy RX Club going and I would still like to do the mountain cruise as soon as I am able. I am glad you 8 guys are doing well. I have banners and tents etc if you want to continue to use the Indy RX Club name. I paid for it/them with my own money but will give the banners to who ever want to carry the rotary torch now, in the interest of growing the club. As far as the tents and sound system goes... if you have an occasion to need them, I can bring them. You are welcome to use the Indy RX Club mailing list if you like. You can count on me assist you guys in any way. The Indy RX Club web site was changed to IndyHP.com as we had more non rotary guys than rotary guys active in functions. If you want to come over there we can probably get a rotary specific section again ... but the rx8club.com is still the easiest place to be imo. The Acutal Indy RX Club Web page hasnt been used in a while but we/you can easily fire it up again for club activities if you like.

I look foward to seeing you on the road as soon as I can drive :D
