Hello all

I've had my black 8 for about 3 weeks now. I got it at Roush. Those sales men and manager didn't know s#!t about this car. They tried to tell me that I didn't need snow tires. We went back and talked to the Mazda service manager and he laughed at them for saying that.

BTW I live in Broad Ripple (north side of Indy). If you see a black 8 with apperance package and spoiler driving around the ripple It is probably me. I haven't seen any black 8s here yet.

For serious questions you'll want to talk to pete deshong at roush. Hes a service tech that used to work on rotary race cars. He's very soft spoken but he knows his stuff about rotary motors. He used to be the only mastertech in the city. And of course there is shane at aim tuning...not sure if he can do warranty work?

I don't get up to Broad Ripple nearly as much as I used to. I tend to spend more time downtown, or toward the South side. If I do get back up that way soon, it'd be kinda cool to come across ya... two black 8s with apperance pkg/spoilers... :D

keynote22's probably referring to my club, Motorsports Driving Club, or "MDC" for short. I organized lapping days and evenings @ Putnam Park for 3 years (2000 to 2003). Visit www.motorsportsdrivingclub.com for more info. keynote22 hasn't tracked his FD3S @ Putnam Park yet, but has ridden with one of my participants, radkins.

Here are some links from the MDC message board with pics from 2003 MDC Putnam Park DEs and open track events:

http://board.motorsportsdrivingclub....hp?threadid=63

http://board.motorsportsdrivingclub....hp?threadid=71

Unfortunately, Putnam Park Corp pulled their evening events for 2004 and beyond, so there are only lapping days and weekend drivers eds sponsored by the larger car clubs/private enterprises.

MDC is a small outfit (just me), and will focus its 2004 activites to acting as a consultant for other clubs/companies who need help with organzational and operational issues inherent in running successful DE events.

I've been open tracking my FD3S Rx7 since 1997. As a DE instructor, I have thousands of miles experience @ Putnam Park, and hundreds of miles experience each @ IRP, Mid Ohio, Road America, Gingerman, Road Atlanta, and Summit Point--so if you need a private DE instructor, or chief instructor to run your event, look no further than your own back yard LOL

Tom Roush Mazda? What a joke? I'll never buy my Rx8 from there. Pete's great, but his knowledge is nonexistant with FD3S twin turbo control system diagnosis--no worries with Rx8 owners LOL

AIM (Advanced Indy Motorsports) Tuning? If you have a Miata, FC, FB Rx7--YES, especially if you're heavy into Spec Miata racing! Heavily modified FD3S Rx7 needing Haltech or Power FC Tuning--NO, they have no clue how to tune Power FC or Haltech FD3S Rx7s (which is ironic, since "Tuning" is in their business name LOL ).

Heavily modded FD3S Rx7 owners with Power FC or Haltechs need to go to Rx7 Store in Columbus Ohio. www.rx7store.net. They've SAFELY tuned twin turbo FD3S Rx7s to 330 rwhp (1.05 kg/cm^2, 15 psi) boost pressure. As recently as this past weekend the Rx7 Store safely tuned radkins' FD3S Rx7 with newly-broken-in Pineapple 13B REW motor and T04S single turbo to make 432 rwhp with that same boost pressure.

BTW Rx8 Store is the same place www.rx8store.com. Jason and Zavier, Advanced Imports (not to be confused with Advanced Indy Motorsports), Rx7 Store, Rx8 Store owners, have a new Mustang Dyno which they use for Power FC tuning. The dyno is also useful in seeing how much hp your new header-back, straight-through midpipe/exhaust system for your Rx8 has made--which I've read is 21 rwhp (woo hoo 200 rwhp! LOL)

Hey jdaled,
That would be way cool. When I drive down the main drag here people are always stoping and looking and pointing. I bet that would double with two. No pun intended.

I haven't done any mods on mine and I don't have the accent package but we do have the same interior colors. I wonder if we have the same taste in women too.:D

Theron , Steve, and Aron,

Thanks for joining us @ Fastimes. It was a blast. Two feature races was plenty! I still can't move my arms LOL See you at the next event!

Jason and Zavier will be fine-tuning my Power FC, and another FD Rx7 will be having a baseline dyno run on Rx7/Rx8 Store's new Mustang Dynamometer. Tentative date/time is Saturday, Jan 3rd, ~ 11 am.

Greg Blair (of Cincinnati) and I had the Rx7/Rx8 Store Mustang Dyno to ourselves today.

My 12-year-old, 116,000-mile, FD3S '93 Rx7 R1 made 341 rear-wheel-hp @ 6500 rpm, 281 lb.ft torque @ 5750 rpm, @ 14.6 psi boost.

Update. Added HKS Twin Power ignition amp. New numbers as of 6 Mar 2004: 370.9 rwhp @7000 rpm; 304.7 lb-ft @5750 rpm, @ 16 psi boost. Power FC set to 1.05 kg/cm^2 (15 psi), 70% pr/sc base duty cycle (precontrol and wastegate duties). No need to post the new dyno sheet, unless anyone has a question on the new numbers.

Hello, all... I'm a psychiatrist living in South Bend and I just picked up an RX-8 a few weeks ago. Was looking at a 350Z, but I'm glad I sprung for the 8. It's a Silver MT Grand Touring with all the extras( strakes, spoiler, air dam, aero flares, etc.) Unfortunately, the weather is so crappy now that I've pretty much had to leave it sitting in the garage. It will probably help to invest in a new set of rims with some good snow tires before next winter. So right now, I dream of the RX-8 while I drive 30 miles to work in an old 4-wheel drive beater! My wife thinks I'm not too practical, but I'll sacrifice the practicality for some fun. Life is too short......

Hey Gary, make sure you send Keynote22 an email with your info so he can get you on the Indiana mailing list. That's a great attitude, and they do some wonderful meets!

Of course, make sure you check out the biggest meet coming up in Indianapolis this April, it's just down the road from you and it'll help you really appreciate that car.

One last thing, while you're at it, give Keynote22 a thorough examination, I know there's some screws loose in that boys head.

no, there are many road events all around..the tracks most folks drive at are IRP, Putnam..just west of indy, and Mid Ohio..several hours away.

Sleep has a great program i have been to several of his event and intend to drive in one coming up soon...there is also the lotus club, porsche club, mustang club, Late apex, Prosport, and a few others.

Im trying to have another school in september for the folks that didnt brave the rain last weekend...I think sleep has one coming up in June. Prosport runs events about every other month. send him a pm and he'll give you the details. I added you to the Indy list so you will get updates on drivers events as well as local cruises.
