I'm not sure, but it is probably a amature drifting event.

 

There is a drift day (DD11) this Saturday (06/24/2006). It is at Road America but at the shifter kart track that is also located there. I know this becasue I am going. So I will miss yet another meet but I get to go drifting

I'm thinking of adding an aftermarket rear spoiler to my 8, and need to find a place that will paint and install it. Anybody got any suggestions of a good place to get this done in the western burbs?

I know of two perfect places that can do just the thing. Both locations are in Aurora. I get my work done at Hollywood Collision and at Neat Street II. Send me an email if your interested.

 

Have you added any mods to the 8 or is it pretty drift capable as is????

Upon further reflection, and a word from someone whose opinion I value very much, I realized that what I originall posted was real close to being an *******.

I figured I would start out stock. I just changed the tires to a low grip set for the rear. The car is pretty capable as is.

Yeah most people don't like it and think it is a waste of tires, slow and what not.......and it is all of thoose things but track time is way expensive and to get good at it costs even more. So I figure I might as well have fun screwing around destroying cheap tires.

Don't worry about it. It's all good.

Anyone else going to MX-5 Summerfest? Adam, want to caravan? I'm at Western and Lawrence.

 

I saw on edmunds where they say it is actually very hard to drift an RX-8 because it is so well balanced. They had a video about it - they took a stock RX-8 to a drift day and ended up having to get a drifting expert to try it. Not sure if they still have the video or not.

 

^ I saw that same one, tho I saw the expert drift it quite nicely!

 

So this is the first meet I am going to be able to make. I will be stopping at the bank today to take out a small loan to fill my tank and then I will see you all @ Portillo's. Who all is going???

Thanks all for such a warm welcome to a gorgeous night. Tis a beautiful sight to see all those RX-8's lined up, but I was most impressed with their owners. I hope our paths get to cross many more times.

Thanks so much for coming out and spending a few hours. I'm back to Bama safe & sound, and my "Blue Pearl" was happy to see me. At least I assume that's why her tail wagged after she warmed up some.
