its deff anti freeze and not the normal yellow-orange gooey stuff that builds up?

If its really anti freeze that more than likely means a blown coolant seal which is why Al had his last motor replaced.

It may not have been present when you had it in the shop so you may try taking it back and seeing what they say or wait for someone like Al to chime in. he knows that area a lot better than I do.

Yea, if it looks like cappuccino on the top of the dip stick, it's actually normal in the colder weather. There is a TSB, but I haven't gotten it done. I just curse when I have to check the oil level cuz it's hard with the cappuccino-y stuff on there.

Allen's dealership of choice is Wilkins in Villa Park(?). I've had good luck with Naperville Mazda near Fox Valley. Ask for Steve (he's the service manager) and tell him Kristen sent you. Don't bother with Bill (the service writer), he just puts em through and doesn't really have any say in what is done or not.

Hm... it might be what you're talking about. But it's more white and milk-shake like. And it's all over the dip stick. I can't even tell the oil level cause I don't see any. Just the white stuff.

That is sounding like what RSD is describing. If it is that, you have no worries, it's common. It is just moisture in the oil foaming and collecting of the cold dipstick. There is a TSB to correct this, but I'm not sure that it works real well. The engineers in Irvine, California think cold is when it gets below 50F.
My engine problems had coolant leaking into the rotor housing.

Good Luck

Hm.. well when I got the oil changed the guy said it was everywhere. Could it be the same thing and I'm freaking out for no reason? I feel like a tard, but it scared the crap out of me when I went to check my oil and had this stuff all over the dip stick. Heh. Would it also be the reason it's idleing so hard and smells bad when I start it up?

This thread will probably make you feel better. It has some pics too so you can compare what you're seeing to what is "normal."

I think most of us have had that initial "holy @#$% what is wrong with the oil?!?!?!?!?" moment

The pics in this post are the best I have come across. If what you are seeing looks like this then you are just fine.

I had the TSB done and haven't seen it since. We'll see how it does over this winter.

Steve is actually the head mechanic at Naperville Mazda. Unless there is another Steve I don't know about. Anyway, like RSD said I've had good luck there.

I second Wilkins in Villa Park and never going to Pugi. The cure for the dipstick is getting the motor hot.

Yea, its just condensation in the oil. It should burn off if you keep the oil temps over 212 for a period. Problem is with those 2 big *** oil coolers the only time i've been able to get the temps above 180 in the past couple of weeks is sitting idling for 5+ minutes.

FYI: I guess Steve, the Service Manager, is gone (hasn't been there in a couple of months). Some new guy named Jeff is in charge now. I don't have any experience with him at all, so I'd recommend Wilkins just cuz Allen knows people there (really well, I hear!!)

It isn't something that you need to worry about, but here it is anyway.

I haven't had this done to my car.

Hey so I've been really thinking about taking the front liscense plate off. But I was wondering if I could possibly get a ticket, what kind of stories to you guys have? Do many of you have the front one off, and do you guys just put it on the dash?

HA! Ask RSD about the BBQ in 2006. A bunch of people got tickets for it from an A-hole forest preserve cop. That said, if you are going to do the crime, gotta be prepared to do the time

I personally think we have front plates because whoever it is that makes plates greased the palms of the politicians. To me they serve no useful purpose. I made the best of it and put on a "rotary powered" license plate frame.

That's why I had it done. That and just in case they figure out down the road it causes some sort of problem.

I got plenty of warnings about not having the front plate, but I never received a ticket for it. I got tired of all the unwanted attention from the wrong people and put it on. I now have personalized plates. I put an illegal clear cover over the front plate to protect it. So far, no problems.

What did the cop tell you when you got your warning?

And is it alright if you just stick the plat on dash?

I don't have a front license plate either. And I also have a black/clear cover on the back one. And have yet to have any problems with cops. My dad's a cop and hasn't even said anything to me about not having a front plate. So I guess it's all luck wether you get in trouble for it or not.

He just told me to get the front plate on the car. Is putting the plate on the dash OK, I don't think so. Some people get away with things, others don't.

Off Topic
My son is looking at RX7's (1st & 2nd Gen) to replace is sick Ford Probe. First car we were looking at was a 2nd gen, but the seller didn't want to do what it takes to sell the car. Now we are looking at a 1st gen on Ebay.
