Hello out there, announcing the first Cedar Rapids RX-8 meet! We're planning on getting together as many 8's, 7's and other Mazdas together as we can for a friendly little get together. Here are the tentative plans, subject to change:

Jones Park, lower pavilion, Cedar Rapids, IA
Saturday, Sept. 13th start meeting up around 11am?
There are grills at the pavilion, sign-up list for food?
Meet and greet 11-12
Grill and Eat 12-2
Pics and cruise 3-5
Movies or games after?

Remember to bring chairs if you plan on hanging out afterwords at Diego's place!

This is all subject to change of course, I'm just trying to get the ball rolling and I'll edit this post until the information is finalized. Looking forward to a good meet, hopefully we can find a place for some pics as cool as the Capital building pics!! Jones park has a frisbee golf course, maybe we could have a little doubles best shot or something there. There's also a brand new park in Hiawatha right off the interstate that has a frisbee golf course too.

 

if anyone is interested we could play some halo at my plce after everything. then we could all do a night cruise. otherwise everyone trow out your ideas so we can have a great meet plan by this weekend.

drove to des moines on saturday...cedar rapids is too far lolz. Sounds fun though!

 

No such thing as too far, just ask RotaryGod It's OK though, we understand if you're scared.

 

Nothing to be scared of...just a long boring drive through IA from Omaha to CR. Not to mention expensive since I'd have to fill up the 7 a few times

 

I was just messin' with ya, you were at the Omaha meet a while back right? I think I remember your 7, and I'm sure it's not the most economical for road trips

 

Diego also tells me that there may be a couple sevens and some other nice Mazdas attending. I'm also thinking about talking to some people at the local Mazda dealer about bringing out a new 8 and MX-5 to look at, we'll see. Maybe they'll show up with some cool little Mazda swag or something.
If we get this meet built up to a decent number I may even try to throw together some raffle prizes.

 

Yeah I was at the last couple meets at zorinski and chalco. Always fun getting together with other rotary guys. I could always drive my 3 but what fun would that be lol

 

There will be other Mazdas there, I'm sure a 3 would fit in just fine

 

There is a few good looking girls driving some nice 3's, also some 6s. So any is welcome. I think a FD guy is coming up in a truck cause his car is motorless.

 

I went and talked to the dealer today and it sounds like they're interested in participating, maybe even sponsoring this meet and future meets. They may even bring out a 2009 8 and other Mazdas too! We're rolling now, let's get some more people signed up.

There was a Mazdaspeed 3 at Mcgrath today, parked next to the door, it already had "as is no warranty on the window????" I wonder what happened to it?

 

probably nothing....they want to sell them the dealers extended warranty instead

 

If I didn't still owe on my 8, I would SO be trying to talk my wife into trading her old Honda in

 

I tried to get my wife to tade our jeep in for a Mspeed 6. She said.....no...

Awesome!, now I just have to come up with a new project for you, lol. RemixLP (local vr 8 with autobahn kit) just stopped over, he's out trying out the Dynoliscous app on my iphone. That little program is actually pretty damn cool for $13! lol, I can hear his exhaust while I'm typing.
