Anyone want to let Mazda borrow their RX8?

Anyone in the Detroit area want to let Mazda borrow your RX-8 for 2-4 weeks??

They gave me $150 and a Mazda 3 while they had my 8.. The only catch is you cannot have any mods done to the car - it's for EPA testing.

If you're interested, send me a pm or e-mail me at detroitrx8 at gmail dot com

Thanks!

I get $150 and no miles in a month and a half as well as a Mazda 3 that I have put well over 1,000 miles on in about a week and a half (I had an MPV prior which worked wonders with Easter) Also the weather was still pretty crappy when I gave them the 8 (as a matter of fact, I think it snowed twice).

And no you don't get to keep the 3 - I have been told that the next people will get fully loaded Mazda 6's (sorry no Mazdaspeed - LOL!)

Wow....you'd think they would at least give you a bit more....like a certificate for $500 worth of accessories or something!? I'd consider that but $150 for a month is not worth it to me!

No company "owns" Mazda, FoMoCo has a controlling stake which is quite a bit different. Technically, someone could come along and buy more shares than Ford has.

And I don't see why anyone would want $150 to give up a car that costs ~$700/month to own and insure. And you'd think that Mazda could get all the RX-8s they wanted. They can pull one off a dealer lot for a couple weeks for nothing and no hassle.

I'd do it, alas i'm not near Detroit. It should be interesting with my car. I've had 2 cats replaced so far.

It would only be a few days if they were not using the Ford test labs in Allen Park. But 2 weeks or so is the norm..

I got a letter from Mazda c/o Boshart Engineering. They're doing some kind of focus group of auto trans Mazda owners, you get to drive around an auto RX-8 for two hours and they pay you $100. Dunno why they sent it to me, mine is manual but I'll take the $100!

Question, if they're doing emissions testing, wouldn't they put miles on it?
