I'm still leaning towards the RX8store exhaust and plan on making the purchase by next week. Might go to Stage 2 but I don't want to go over the edge and make my 8 not street legal

By the way BRx8, I got my ECU reflashed at Pugi . Thanks! I'm not getting the rough idle though. Also just got 71 miles from a quarter tank of gas as opposed to 50 prior

Did Pugi flash you because you asked, or did you throw a CEL or something?

well i have Stage 1 installed...it wasn't idling rough nor stuttering at certain RPMs until i installed it...once it's nice and warmed up, it's great and the Stage 1 with DSC/TCS off is a great addition, but when it's cold, it feels like it's gonna die on me

i had mine flashed twice now...i've had 2 CELs and 1 oil light...all you need to do is tell them you got a CEL...if they ask or mention that there was no CEL thrown by the ECU just say you disconnected the battery to install something and it reset the ECU

I haven't been keeping up with CZ's forum lately, but I thought I read from someone that he was coming out with a "Stage 1.1" patch because the latest PCM flash from Mazda leaned out parts of the fuel map... might be what's roughing up your idle when cold?

BRx8,
Are you going to send back your Stage 1 to Canzoomer to patch it? Beacuese they would do it for free, you just have to pay for shipping. Also they said they were going to ship out my Stage 1 by the end of this week and I would assume it's the updated one. You are more than welcome and try mine once I get it.

G8rboy,
I appreciate your hospitality at lending out your garage. I'll take you up on that offer. I'm planning on ordering my RX8store exhaust this weekend or Monday. I'm just waiting for my tax return check and we're ready to go.

No prob... probably won't be until the last weekend in March, though (27th). I'm looking forward to a butt-dyno ride in an RX8 with Stage1 and exhaust, too : )

i think i'll go straight to the Stage II and skip all the shipping stuff...as good as the Stage I is, it's just not enough for me and you would take full benefit of both, the exhaust and ECU when you combine them toegether...plus $75 is a VERY good deal for almost twice the horsepower...

so i think in the meantime, i'm going to turn the unit off until Stage II comes out...thanks for the offer though! i appreciate it...i plan on taking my car back again to dealership since i'd like them to fix the dynamic damper recall...my ECU reflash was on Feb. 02, 2004 so i KNOW i probably don't have the absolute newest one

Any of you folks out here in the NW Chicago burbs have a recommendation on a specific dealer and/or saleman? I'm looking at a late April purchase, so I thought I'd get some input from you lucky lads and lasses.

BTW - if you folks get together in the Schaumburg area, I'd come just to play water boy to see all those 8s.

Whoa! Thanks just freakish. The system automatically logged me in as "Slickrexz" when I posed that last message. Somehow I got a bad cookie of something. I am definitely not Slickrexw in "so cali" but Mkboy1313 here in lovely Schaumburg. Strange.

Happened to me when I first signed up... hasn't happened since.

Anyway, I looked at both Schaumburg Mazda on Golf, and Andersen BMW/Mazda in Crystal Lake. I thought Schaumburg was a little to heavy on the sales pressure, and really tried to low-ball me on my trade (I ended up selling it outright). I bought from Andersen (Peter is the sales guy) since they were very easy-going and worked with me on the S-Plan, and had the exact car I was looking for on their lot. I was impressed that they held the car I wanted for 2 weeks while people were offering to pay sticker for it (S-Plan is a little below invoice, so they're not making much if at all). They also have a good loaner program (instead of forcing you to get a crappy rental, they'll put you in a BMW or Mazda demo while your car is in the shop).

I've also heard good stuff about an Elgin dealer - i think it was Biggers Mazda. I remember seeing they had a huge selection in inventory, but never went there in person.

Good luck!

Thanks! I definitely include Crystal Lake in my search. I'm only going to have around three weeks to shop at the end of April. My current lease it up may ninth, and a good portion of the down payment is coming from stock options that won't pay out until mid april. It'll be tight. I'll have to settle for as close as I can get to what I want.

I'm about 90% convinced it will be an RX-8 this time, I just have to get used to the though of the extra TLC (don't want it to flood!) and the need for Winter Tires. Plus the fact that i've never driven a manual in 20 years of driving. I'm hoping to get with a friend in the next few weeks to get some tips, otherwise i'll have to go in for a trst "ride" soon. Funny, yesterday I was doing a lot of "car" thining and I was second-guessing my desire for an 8 this spring, especially after this winter. After work, i was crusing down Golf road when a beautiful black one rolled up right next to me. It's only the second time i've seen one on the road since I became interested back in December. Nice timing. Very "burning bush"-like moment.

Well, don't let the flooding thing get too overblown- it's only an issue if you let it become one. Definitely need the snow tires, but man is it a helluva fun winter car. I took mine on Lake Geneva a few weeks back- 4-6 inches of snow on top of solid ice, and it was a blast.

While I do work in Schaumburg and drive a black 8, it wasn't me yesterday... I was working from home. You might see me taking the trek to and from work on 62/Algonquin Rd though...

I know that schaumburg has a large selection because I just bought my rx8 there last week. I would also try using the web site www.carsdirect.com. This is the second car I have bought using the site. Both cars were mazdas and the quotes were below invoice.

Thanks for the tip on Carsdirect. I've been scoping the 8's on Golf for a while, which one did you get? Time to brag!

Talking

hello everyone

hey TiTaniumRX8, if you dont mind me asking where did you get your Xpel window tints done and any suggestions where I can get my alarm installed (Clifford rs3.5 w/remote start) in the chicago area for a good price (Tweeter wants $280 and Car Boutique wants almost $400)

Thanks a lot for any suggestions

A quick question regarding carsdirect if you have a moment. did you allow them to guote, or did you choose to get a quote from the dealer, just wondering.

Thanks

I purchased mine at biggers mazda and could not have been happier. The service is top notch and they really gave me a great rate 2.19%. I could not say enough great things to say about them! My salesmen was Shaun Quindel and the GM there was awesome. Heck they let me take the car home and drive it the next day to work to get a good feel for the car and MPG. They also have a very good selection. I went to Schaumburg Mazda and those guys were A$$holes! They gave me some bull story when I went in that I couldn't test drive the care due to the road conditions (It had snowed, but the roads were bone dry). I guess they didn't think a 26 yr old could seriously afford this car. So basically they thought I would buy a car that I couldn't test drive. Or better yet they didn't want to waiste there time on what they thought was a joke......until I made it very clear to them that I could pay cash for the car on the spot. I never saw people back pedal so fast.
