I'll have to meet up with you guys vicariously. We lived in Florence until 2009 and moved back to DC (flew for Comair until it started going REAL south and punched out). We miss the area though. Good people in NKY/Cincy. And buying cans of Skyline just isn't the same. :-)

My wife learned in England the best way to have Skyline/Goldstar outside of the Cincinnati area is using the packets that you add ground beef, water, and tomato paste. It's pretty close!

I did! Just under a month ago, and I love it! It's an 07 with 28k miles on it. This site has been invaluable in so many ways too. I've done the plugs, wires, coils, and tranny fluid... never would have without the DIYs here. I was just blessed with a brand new cat under the 80k warranty! So that's good. Awesome car!

We'll have to try that! We weren't fans of Skyline initially when we moved out there, but it grew on us pretty fast. Now we're jonesing for it!

Tried both - the canned Skyline is much better than I could ever reproduce with the powder. But the powder does ship better... haha

Welcome to you Dave. I lived in your area (Alexandria and then Stafford) for about 10 years during my first marriage, never did like it (she was working there when we got married so that's why). It was nice being close to Summit Point for when I was motorcycle racing.

Spent this afternoon in the cold garage installing fender braces on the Miata. Have to go back and adjust the doors as they sagged in the process of installation (despite the doors being shut and not all of the fasteners being removed). I actually wasn't too cold thanks to my insulated coveralls.

Well the snow and ice was what was waiting for me when I got back to CVG yesterday and I must say the Blizzaks seemed to work great. The guys who car-sat for me while I was gone took some pics that morning of her before they proceeded to turn off the DSC and go have "fun", lol. I must say I never drive without the DSC but I am becoming a convert

That works like gangbusters as long as there aren't any rocks/hard places to fetch up against! I found that out the hard way with my old Protege, bent a front lower control arm against a curb that was hiding underneath some snow in a parking lot. I'll probably never live that one down.

Newb.

I may or may not have done something similar. Wasn't a curb but might have been a shopping cart, in an old cutlass.

Might have done something similar in a Ranger. But it might have been one of those large industrial mailboxes. And I don't think the snow was doing a good job of hiding it.

Mmm, don't think so! My 06 was also covered in the reflash TSB-like thingie. I had it done in 09.

Haven't we all done this? Once with snow in Tri County Mall and another with a railroad crossing undergoing repair in Reading.

Reading - many years ago one of my coworkers turned 21 so we took him to My Room Lounge in Reading. I had to take him back to the office in Blue Ash and well, some amount of intoxicants were ingested and I didn't notice the crossing was under repair and closed on Reading Rd. My 81 Chevy Citation (company car, I'd never buy one of these POS) decided it wanted to cross the tracks. All I managed to do was blow out one tire and bend a rim plus some other various suspension bits were bent. The car was ready to be turned in to the lease company so I didn't feel too bad (except the hangover the next day).

Tri County Mall there was a concrete parking curb hidden under snow and my 80 Toyota 4 x 4 went a little airborne since I hit it at about 25 MPH. No damage other than my pride since my cousin and brother watched me do it.

Mine happened a couple of years ago after Christmas when I was dropping our tree off in a commuter parking lot. Big lot with not many cars and lots of snow, since I hadn't played for a couple of years I decided to brush up on my skills. Went to the end of the lot, e-braked and had the rear sliding very nicely. Was looking through my turn when I caught something out of the corner of my eye, looked and I was headed directly for a curb. Thought later I might have been able to use the e-brake to get her spinning and maybe miss it but at the moment that didn't come to me. Loud bang and the steering wheel was immediately about 90 degrees to the right. Luckily the bent control arm was the only damage.

In other news, took the Miata out for a quick spin to see how the fender braces improved things. Front end is majorly stiff now with better turn-in. It feels almost like I can think about turning and it will. Autocross is going to be interesting next year...

Mine was an empty kmart lot in my cutlass before we fixed and painted it with my dad. He brought up the stories of his youth so we decided to give it a go. Swing the back end around on an icy lot and hit a cart was the game. Damn did those things go flying.

he's always been a good influence.
