Welcome, En!

The weekend of the 1st is a possibility for me.

I'm nearly 50 though...but I swear I'm friendly even though I'm the "grandpa" of the local group.

If you live in Sugarhouse, you're close to Darius.

I've got an '07 Sunlight Silver, Touring, bought BN in March of '07, 6,300 miles.

Hey guys I have been thinking of racing at the salt flats in September. Here is the web page
http://www.saltflats.com/index.html
I am going to get into the 130 MPH club this year if all goes well. Next year I want to get a cage and a few other requirements and go for the 150 club. I know the 130 will be a breeze but the 150 I am not sure if our car can break through, I think our top speed is 149 but I will give her hell trying.

153 is as fast as I have heard of but it becomes airborne at that speed. Need additional front end down force to do it safely. At speeds upto 150 the car is stable (a little light, but stable) but somewhere from 150 to 153 the front end is not in constant contact with the ground.

I got mine up to 147 in 6th gear at 6400 rpm so I still had room but I backed off cause I felt it get a bit squirrelly. So shouldn't be a problem with some downforce adders.

I've only had mine up to 115. But at 115, the car is rock-solid as you well know.

(Edit: I actually would have gone faster, but had the wife in the car at the time. Top-end attempts need to be done solo.)

Maximum torque is delivered at 5000 rpm on a stock engine... I wonder if you had a tail wind that day.

Pretty fast, bose, you win!

Bose got that out of a stock engine? Whoo that is moving in a stocker. Hell I've got quite a few bucks invested and don't get that much more out of mine (I don't wish to fly without wings).

Floyd, you can hit 130 on I-80 on the way there.

My trick is to wait for someone to blow-by you doing 90+. When he's about 3 or 4 miles ahead of you with no other cars in-between, and doesn't light up his brake lights, you know you've got no HP between you and him, and that's the signal to hit it. Once you close to within about half a mile, it's time to bring it back down.

Yeah at the time I had only had it for a month, don't know how I got it to that speed but I did. Mind you no one was around and the only danger was to myself.

Oh yeah, no need to scare the passengers; it makes the friends think yr crazy

Our top torque is actually at 8500 RPM, wow I know! For typical engines it's around 5,000.

yeah put a little front weight or down draft on that baby and go for it! I've been around 120, like tull said, rock solid!

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle.

Not screaming in terror, like the passengers in his car.

I think you are confused, En. Top horsepower for the Rennie is at 8500 rpm, top torque is 5500 rpm.

oh, retarded. Yeah I totally meant to type 5500; no way you can have max torque just before the suggested "redline". But our torque comes later than cylinder engines. Sorry, wasn't tryin to put misinformation out there. But either way, with all the engineers designing this beast and how tight the config's & tolerances are, I'd be surprised if we could gain much HP or Tq by modifications & tweaks. ..but I have been wrong b4

Yeah it's a very well designed machine indeed. They only REAL power adders are FI, cramming more air and fuel into it is the only way to get big gains. Other wise the bolt ons we can buy only really change the sound and perhaps a h.p. or two.
