Just moved back to Utah
What's up fellow Rotary owners? So I just moved back to Utah from Alaska. I shipped my car down and should be expecting it to arrive tomorrow. I have already seen a few 8s here in fact there is a white one just around the corner from me. Are there a few 8 owners here in the Springville to Salt Lake area?

Not too far no. I know there are quite a few 8s in Utah as I see a few every day and one is just down the road from me. I'd like to get a few together for a meet sometime.

yeah. that wouldn't be too bad. just have to have time on the weekend when i'm not super busy...lately, i've been trying to find time to get things done on the car... goal right now is to get the water pump replaced with the RE-medy pump along with a new thermostat. while i'm at it, i figured i'd clean out the ssv as well since i have to take all that stuff off and drain the coolant anyway

Yeah, sounds like a good handful to get done. I'm pretty strapped on time myself but if there is a day I am free and you could use an extra hand just let me know.

heh. i could always use an extra hand i would even provide the beer, if that is something you partake in... being in utah the last 8 years, I've come to understand that not everyone here enjoys an occasional cold beer after a long hot day of work

and if beer isn't your thing, I have a couple parts you can have as I have no further plans for them. a magnaflow catalytic converter and an agency power cat delete midpipe. tried the cat delete and car was just cartoonishly loud. couldn't justify keeping it on there because the power doesn't make up for the ridiculous sound. also have a couple door card inserts for the larger 8" bose speakers that i've since replaced with infinity speakers and an alpine amp.
they're yours if you want 'em. the catalytic converter has the o2 bung in the wrong location, so i decided not to use it...after i'd mounted it to the car. so off it came and back went another oem cat.
pm me your information and i'll give you mine and we'll get in touch, eh

There are no rotrary specialist shops here in Utah. There are a few people however who know what they are doing. The best way to find them is through the Utah Mazdas facebook page.

Thanks. I'll look it up. I've been online looking at the Pettit site rebuilds and the banzai guys seem to do a decent job. But I don't want to ship my engine out. Any other reputable places I should check out? My engine is rough but should be salvageable. Id like to do a rebuild and port.

I'm on the utah Mazda one I'll join that rotary one. I've read up on the porting. I'm ok with this engine lasting 40-60k on this rebuild. Then I'll pick up one of those low mile Japanese ones and do a bigger turbo build. Just looking for some short term fun. Thank you for your help.
