also, for the clip on the s1 fuel level sender, rather than cut and splice i ended up removing the female pins from the connector and then taking the connector of the old fuel pump assembly and inserting the pins into that one. only thing is that the groove on the s1 pump connector is notched on the opposite side for it to install into the s2 assembly. so i just carefully cut a notch into the connector so that it would clip on. the female pins aren't as tight as they should be in the s1 pump connector but once clipped in everything is snug and there is good contact. my fuel gauge works perfectly.

got it all installed and finished. i didnt really have the time to snap pics of the whole process since i did all the work by myself here and there after work. another thing i noticed i had to do after installing it all and not being able to get it to seal. the s2 pump has a notch on the top part of the assembly that is about inch and half long. the top of the s1 fuel pump is perfectly round so i ended up carefully removing the notch (used for clocking purposes on the s2 perhaps) with a dremel. after that i was finally able to get the two locking nuts tight enough to seal.

for the venturi line you just have to cut the fitting off and mate the two lines ( tank line and fuel pump line) with a small piece of gas submersible hose and worm clamps. Remember there is really no pressure on this line. Thats all you have to do.
The connector up top is the same. Its the connector from the gas tank gauge sender that plugs up inside the pump that has to be changed. Thats it.
    Just those two small things.
Dont be hesitant to work on your car. You can do it. If it is your daily driver, then that makes it harder, but really you cant mess this up. Without doing any of what I have said you could still drive the car if you had too. Gas gauge wouldnt work and the venturi tube wouldnt work, but the car would drive.

grrr. even with your well described instructions on what needs to be modified on the 09 pump i am having a hard time putting it together in my head without pictures of what exactly was done. i understand that the 09 has a bigger venturi port for the syphon line than the 04 has so i need make a way to get the smaller line on to the 09 pump. how exactly did you do this? also from what i can see it seems like the electrical harness will plug right in to the connector on top without modification.
