Hey there Jon! I had some questions and from what I've read you seem like the guy that could help me! If you still use these fourms. Let me know. It's regarding 2004 rx8, SSV issues. Thanks!

I am looking for some help with my APV motor and think you could be the person to help. Engine was rebuilt.

I did remove the apv shutters and motor to clean and reassemble. I believe everything is correct but My car will not start... it keeps flooding and has started twice but sounded flooded and maybe low on compression becuase of stuck seals from rebuild.

When it started I got the p2004. Car was not brought above 3000 RPM during the 2 min it was running. Secondary air pump was disconnected along with the little pressure sensor next to it. (deflooding)

I verified the valves move by turning the gear for the apv motor and placed a camera inside the intake to verify movement. Gear has magnet sitting about 2oclock fully clockwise. IS THERE A WAY TO TEST THE MAGNET OR SENSOR? I want to know if the sensor is working correctly before I pull the intake (motor)

    Sure appreciate any help!

    Hey buddy,

was wondering if you could take a look at this video and let me know what this could be. I hear this chatter when under WOT. only 2nd gear and onwards starting around 5k rpms. No power loss at all and the car throws no codes. I'm thinking a heatshield, will have to jack the car up and check. Sound is coming from underneath the shifter console. Body and parts of the car only have 60k miles. Engine itself has 16k. Here's the link to the video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ml0dic3573...%20PM.mov?dl=0

    Thanx bud

Hey Jon! I got an 05 Rx8 and had the stuck manifold intake valve. Followed your posts around and am mid-fixing it currently. Thanks for the info! Noticed you were in Streetsboro, I work in Medina!

Hey Jon, I've followed many of your guides on the SSV, and I'm wondering if you could offer some advice for P0661 and/or P2259. I tested the solenoids (12V and all), cleaned the contacts, etc. Still get the codes. The SSV itself does stick open, but not every time (if I open it manually, about 1/10th of the time, it will stick). I cleaned it what I could without taking it out (I will if I have to), but I'm wondering if those two codes would be related. I thought the SSV sticking was P2070, not P2259, which sounds more like a solenoid issue. Also, I hear a subtle whine upon start that lasts a few minutes, which I imagine would be the AIR pump. Correct? Thanks in advance for any and all help you may have to offer.

you helped out ssrx8nc with a flashing security light issue and pm'd him a troubleshooting guide. I spent this year since feb rebuilding my rx8 and had my only key for it stolen. the car is rebuilt and battery relocated to the trunk. locksmiths called out to replace my key and swear it is programmed to the car, as far as their handheld computer says. I get a click from the starter relay in the fuse block but no activity at all from my starter. could i please get that guide you sent ssrx8nc?

    Hi Jon,

Looks like you are popular around here on RX8 club! I was wondering if you could help me out with my Power steering issues. I saw in a post from years ago that you had some luck fixing it yourself, and I'm trying to do the same with my 2005 8. If you could private message me or email me at scottladell@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate the help!

    John,

Heard you are the expert. have read many of your posts.
Below is a link. I keep getting these 2 error codes. In your opinion, is this the SSV or APV? What would you check first? I really don't want it to be the APV, thus no supporting documents on this site. Or lack there of.
