ZOOM ZOOMIN' with Mazsport
hey guys and girls,
just wanted to post some kudos to scott and mazsport, just got back from the drive from tampa to nc with my "new" mazsport built and tuned 3000 lbs of pure joy (my 8 ).
Sent it down to Scott to get the turbo relocated topside, fuel pump and injector upgrade, cooling mod, solid engine mounts, street and dyno tuned.
There is no need to pray to the rotary gods like I used to do, I have a direct line to the rotary god himself! The car pulls through the entire rpm band, all the way to redline, no more being basically stock at the high rpms! Quick spooling ball bearing water/oil cooled turbo does the trick nicely and looks so sweet mounted up top. The turbo honestly comes alive so easily that I in the process of getting used to the extra power, i boost when i don't mean too .. .which is awesome in my book.
There are no "hiccups" when cruising, no little surges like some aftermarket turbos do, no burning smells, great idle, starts up everytime, runs cool . . .basically scott builds "stock turbo rx8s". I have feel in love with my car all over again!
If your having anything done to your car, you need to be speaking with scott. Trust me, i learned the hard way!
if you guys want to see some pics of the engine bay go to www.myspace.com/zoomzoom_8

I am glad to hear she is running well. And I am glad to hear you have fallen back in love with her. I think with the amount of goodies you have in her, you should keep her for a while.

i am running in the 270s whp right now with only 9.5 psi. The turbo has an internal gate that blows open after that, i ran out of money before I could get the external one that would hold more boost. Saving up for that now. Its very strong feeling for 270 whp though because of how the turbo spools so quick and pulls hard all the way to redline.
Thanks for the great comments everyone, but Scott did it all, i just paid for it

270whp with internal wastegate? Sorry if I'm reading it wrong.
So does that mean slavearm had the external wg when he was pushing 308 tuned at 8? And 299 untuned at 8??

We are at the same range in whp.
Which means we will both be sucking up the same amout of gas.lol
Mazsport ECU do you mean Interceptor-X?
If so where do you have your Decel set at?
I have changed my driving habits to see what I can get out of it. I am currently a little under half a tank and have gone 130miles. I am usually at a 1/4 tank in that range. Enjoy the new FI it's awsome.

i dunno slavearm probably had a bigger turbo, mine is roughly the same size as the greddy except the charge side is stronger and the internals are better. Mine is not one of the mazsport kits, it was a custom setup. With the boost controller off, i can hit 12.5 but it doesn't hold, with the external gate scott says i will be fine. I am tuned rich too, which i wanted, i can't pop a seal!
decel? man, i dunno, scott tuned it and I have not even logged into the int x yet, i did my first turbo install but never messed with the tuning, that stuff scares me, I just left this one as scott did it. our gas sounds about the same, i know she is thirsty most of the time and boost .. you can watch the neddle move!

Yep. The mazsport kit comes with an external WG. The larger turbo is why I make more power at less PSI.
