We are proud to introduce the plug-in wideband 02 system for the Interceptor-X. All units that have been built were preconfigured for this option and we have completed testing. This will allow the user to Monitor the AFR's in real time with a Laptop/Carputer or by using the Datalogger/ECU logger already built in to the Interceptor-X ECU. Simply find a safe place to operate the vehicle under full throttle(dragstrip), start the datalogger and run through 2nd and 3rd gear under full throttle. Stop the vehicle and the datalogger, then toggle left or right to replay the run step by step. By tracking the RPM,WOT, LOAD and the AFR's you can make required adjustments to acomplish most of the WOT tuning which will save Dyno time and $'s. This will also allow a passenger to monitor AFR's at high speed cruise and trim the fuel values required to improve fuel economy. Unlike other WBO2 monitoring systems this is integrated directly into the computer that is running the engine. By monitoring the exact engine information, more thorough fine tuning can be accomplished.
Kit includes: Interface, WBO2 sensor, long heat resistant cableing, weld-in O2 bung and wire ties.

with this installed, can you pre program into the interceptor-x afr's to hit rather than relative values at various load points? Or does it just really perform data logging features?

 

Nice job Scott, the Interceptor-X system keeps getting better and better.

 

The Interceptor-X does not chase AFR's. The plug in unit allows you to record the AFR's across the entire rpm/load range make corrections and then datalog again to see the effects of those changes.

 

What kind of O2 sensor and will it be okay to leave in permanently attached? The Bosch sensors have a tendancy to burn out. Speaking of Bosch sensors, is yours compatible with the thread pitch of the Innovate O2 bung? I already have one of those welded to my cat.

 

All o2 sensors have a usable life, depending on the state of tune,fuel type and driving conditions this life will vary. It does use a Bosch o2 sensor and so far we have had no problems. That being said all of the testing has been performed with the Interceptor-X EMS so there has been no popping through the exhaust or flooding of the engines. The sensor should thread in to your prexisting 02 bung without problem. Scott

 

What if I already own a Wide Band O2 setup?

 

I received Scott's wideband yesterday. Looks like a high quality kit. I'll be installing it this weekend. I can't wait to see what he comes out with next. I'm hoping for the CAI, hopefully setup in a way that doesn't require removal of the front bumper.

 

CAI? I know he is working on a new exhaust manifold, but I didn't know about the intake.

 

I don't think its one of his current projects, but it was something he had mentioned he would eventually be releasing.

 

Personally I'd rather Scott developed a knock sensor add-on for the interceptor. But that's just me.

 

Ya actually you're probably right. I would like to have cruise control and the knock sensor functions added to the Interceptor.

 

Is it the Innovative Motorsports product?

 

No, its a whole custom setup. It comes with a specific Bosch O2 sensor, cables and a black box that conditions the signal from the Bosch so that the Interceptor can use it. Basically from my understanding the box makes a wideband signal look like a narrowband signal for the Interceptor, while retaining all of the A/F range. No other wideband can be plugged into the Interceptor, at least not without you creating some custom hardware to perform any signal corrections that are needed.

Well, our wideband is perfect for tuning while datalogging with the Interceptor. It does not have an external display, so from the laptop/carputer press the left shift key and there is the display in real time. I am not sure if you can splice the to signals together or not. What sensor does your wideband use?Scott

 

yea I was curious about the same thing...is it possible to rig that up to an innovative or AEM gauge? considering it's a pretty crucial parameter, I'd like to be able to keep an eye on it without a laptop (they tend to get tossed around alot inside the car on the dragon lol)

Innovative LC-1 with Bosch LSU4.2 5-wire, wide-band O2 sensor

 

Does anyone know of a 12v ignition wire in the engine bay that I can use for to power the wideband? Scott mentioned the VFAD connector has one, but I believe the VFAD connector is the Green plug that sits near the MAF sensor. That has a constant 12v, but not a 12v ignition wire. I currently have it run inside the cabin under the dash to the ignition wire there, but I prefer to have as few extra wires in my car as possible so I'd like to grab it somewhere in the engine bay. Also Scott, what is the approximate current draw for the wideband?
