4 rotor flyby

Here's the car that we use for our banner, running at VIR I believe; Jim Downing's 4 rotor Kudzu. I know this should be in the media section but, hey, hope you enjoy:

The car no longer belongs to Mr Downing but recieves some maintenance and repairs from our parent company, Downing Atlanta and is raced in the Historics from time to time. The engines used to cost approx $100,000.00 if that's what you were asking

Even the R26B is a bargain at that price. The Ferrari motors that competed against them at one point cost $250k and needed a rebuild 5 times more often.

Everything. The 3 piece eccentric shaft, the super light weight rotors. the flat housings, the 3 plug peripheral port rotor housings, ceramic seals, larger main bearings, dry sump, different dowel locations. All the major components were super low build number items not shared with production pieces; that's the main reason for the huge cost.

I believe it's called chrome steel (4031, 4041 I'm not sure).

Was just wondering since kiwi sells a kit which has all the custom parts for less than 10k AU, including the chrome moly shaft, both center plates, counterweights, and stationary gears. Hard to imagine the rest adds up to 90k.

COMPLETELY different animal. You won't see the Kiwi parts running the 24 Heurs Du Mans. That's what this is designed and built for, making 650 to 700 horse for long endurance races. We've done in excess of 100 hours run time before taking one apart (Ceramic seals are a beautiful thing ).
