2009 Mazda RX-8 R3 4-point Sturt Bar/Tower Brace

I heard that you guys can get stuff from the 2009 8's so here I am...

I am looking for an R3 4-point Strut Brace (the one in the engine bay).
My only question; will it fit the 04-08 RX-8s?
Price? If it's cheaper than the Name Brands out there then I'll definitely buy one from you guys. :)

Spinning Sushi 05-28-2008 03:28 AM

Here is what I'm talking about:

Me Too!!

VarneyMazda 05-28-2008 06:17 AM

My guess is it will be considerably more than aftermarket but I can look when I get to work too

Mazmart 05-28-2008 07:07 AM

Pricing shortly!

Paul.

Macius8 05-28-2008 09:09 AM

Hmm maybe they'll make a MS one with a master cylinder brace?

if they do that would rock!

Mazmart 05-28-2008 12:09 PM

No pricing available as yet. This may take a few days to a week.

Paul.

Tamas 05-28-2008 12:17 PM

You'll need a new engine cover with that too (provided you want to have an engine cover at all).

nycgps 05-28-2008 12:38 PM

IT will probably cost a few hundred bux. consider OE parts are always expensive.

Or people can just wait till someone rear end some R3 Rx-8 so Paul can sell ya the front strut . :)

I'll do used, I'll do new; whatever I need to do, to please the People.

Paul.

Spinning Sushi 05-28-2008 01:39 PM

I wonder if it'll bolt right on, if not, I don't mind modifying it a bit to make it fit. :)

I don't need an engine cover, I'm currently running without one. :)

The cheaper the better. :)

secret8gent 05-30-2008 11:03 PM

so you'll need the 4pt brace and the bracket that comes out from the firewall, right?

I'm sure we'll find out soon if it can be retro fit.

woo

will this be a b-stock legal swap?

the thought had crossed my mind as well a while back.

Spinning Sushi 06-01-2008 01:20 AM

My thoughts exactly, I don't mind modifying it to fit. It's the cost that I'm wondering about to see if it's even worth it. :)

nycgps 06-04-2008 11:25 PM

for a little bit more, you can get a set of Nice Autoexe Front & rear strut from Paul.

Oh crap, forgot to take pics. will do tomorrow.

chickenwafer 06-04-2008 11:38 PM

I don't believe it will be a "bolt-on" affair do the how the rear connects to the firewall. Notice is uses 2 studs per side and the current RX-8's only have one stud per side for the firewall plastic clips. My guess is it may slide over the single stud, but at worst you would have to drill a new hole in your STB.

LionZoo 06-04-2008 11:49 PM

Someone needs to tell me when Mazmart gets a set of the R3 seats. I'm going to get some popcorn and watch that bidding war unfold! I might even participate myself.

Mazmart 08-14-2008 08:01 AM

$135 on the new bar for the R3 vehicle. Orders can be placed immediatey.

Paul.

alnielsen 08-14-2008 08:02 AM

Will this fit on earlier model cars?

Mazmart 08-14-2008 08:10 AM

It will definitely fit the older cars. I'm not sure about the rear section's mounting but that shouldn't pose too big of an issue for the sharp folks we have in the RX8 community.

Paul.

wireaddict 08-15-2008 10:58 AM

I want this Autoexec 4pt. set I keep seeing mentioned in the forums... where do I get it???

mysql 08-15-2008 11:28 AM

first, save up $500

Jedi54 08-15-2008 12:28 PM

that's a sweet looking bar. Anyone get one yet?

Mazmart 08-15-2008 01:07 PM

It would be nice if I could sell those for $500 but they're $615 from me which is the cheapest in the US.

Paul.

Mazmart 08-15-2008 01:20 PM

3 Attachment(s)
Here are the AutoExe bars that I sell. That price is for front and rear.

Blackout04RX 08-29-2008 01:32 AM

615 for both sounds fair. if you split that in half, thats not much higher than the ebay special olympics setups

That's too funny!

Paul.

morkusyambo 08-29-2008 11:36 AM

I know this is off topic, but I didn't feel like starting a thread for one question.

Paul, how much are the AutoExe headers and do you know of anyone that has it installed with dyno figures??

Suggested retail is $1380. I can do $1200.00

Paul.

morkusyambo 08-29-2008 12:26 PM

Wow. Is a good bit of the price due to being shipped overseas??

Nope, In Japan it sells for 138,000 yen. The shipping and duty is ugly though in terms of what I pay, making it rather un-profitable but I'm here to serve. It's expensive but not the most expensive of the Japanese and it's gorgeous.

Paul.

morkusyambo 08-29-2008 01:25 PM

Thanks for the info. I may install a header eventually, but the results i've read about so far seem to be a mixed bag.

Do you have any info on performance gains, if any?

Mazmart 08-29-2008 02:03 PM

I believe in telling the truth throughout life: I know nothing about the potential gains of this header. I've heard of headers on racing RX8s making increases that weren't seen on the street due to other tuning factors. The exhaust components I've gotten from AutoExe are some of the prettiest I've ever seen with really beautiful welds.

Paul.

Hey Paul, quick question reguarding those front and rear strut bars from Autoexe. Why is it the front strut bar design is..well..like it is, as opposed to ..lets say the 4 point R3 or that Mazdaspeed 4 point. Just curious to understand why their 4 point is at another part of the car.

Wish I knew (Again I won't profess expertise outside of my areas of study), I guess there's more than one way to skin a cat :) .

From what I've read from Autoexe's description

Autoexe did it this way because B-pillar is missing, Mazda did a great job on making a body this good without the B-pillar, but its still missing. 4 point strut is there to transfer force around, stiffen up the handling, the under brace to make the body even stronger, and they got the rear strut idea from Le Mans race.

and yes, Paul is right, there is more than one way to skin a cat, Since Mazdaspeed has almost the same thing as Autoexe. the R3 Strut bar looks almost the same as Mazdaspeed Japan's 4 point front strut (R3's bar is not as strong as Mazdaspeed Japan one, close enough, different way to build it, but almost same mounting points)

Zelse 08-30-2008 07:17 AM

So then that raises the question...What would YOU buy? :P

nycgps 09-06-2008 07:15 AM

I went the Autoexe way. I should've gone the Mazdaspeed way cuz no one seems to have it :P

oh well, Paul gave me the best service so ... no complains here :)

any chance with triming can the engine cover still be used? it doesnt look like it would but its a longshot

NgoRX8 09-08-2008 01:21 PM

probably won't fit without some nice amounts of cutting, but if you have the autoexe you gotta show it off. haha

Nopstnz8 09-08-2008 07:52 PM

Yes it will fit. There was a guy on here who had a carbon fiber engine cover and trimmed the edges to fit the 4-point strut tower bar. The fitment looked pretty good.
