I looked into it, but I'm m probably going to miss it again this year.
I want to point out that the Microtel does accept up to 2 pets with an additional $50 upcharge per night.
I retired last summer after losing my wife.
It may sound lame, but we had just adopted a dog, and she was basically my unofficial emotional support dog during the aftermath and even now 9 months later.
I don't think I will travel anywhere anymore without her.
Being able to bring her is a deal breaker for me, so maybe others who considered boarding their pets might want to bring them.
The pet fee isn't a whole lot more than boarding.
No word on if she's allowed in the hot tub or not.

^Also, I think a little more detail on the hotel info besides a phone # might be helpful.
Maybe it's just my smartphone, but the link provided doesn't work, and I usually prefer to look into hotels without having to call them and ask questions.
Googling the hotels brings up several options & trying to figure out which one it is can be a huge timesuck.
People who have been there know what hotels are mentioned, but those of us who've never been, do not.
**EDIT
My apologies if it was my own interwebz shortcomings causing my issues.

Might need to try and make this event next year, just load up the 8 and trailer it there and back.

The DGRR will have to wait.
Jedi, if you ever want to go on a road trip, the Hill Country around Abilene in spring when the wildflowers are blooming was beautiful.
We drove down from Amarillo and spent the night, then drove on through to Dallas, Houston, and the bayou.
That was really pretty country between Abilene and Dallas.

My car is on the road and I'm coming this year, finally....
What I need to know - I'm 45 minutes from Deal's Gap including driving up the dragon - where is the event actually being held? At the Gap? At a dam? How early and how late, where? In NC, in TN, which nights, which days. I don't do social media so it'd be really helpful to have even an approximate itinerary posted here.
I missed last year because my RX8's old and the coolant hoses failed. It's fixed. I want to hit 63000 miles on the Dragon this year. Yes, 63000 original miles. I've protected this car.
I also want to finally meet many of you in person.
I'm registered and ready to join the convoy. Tell me specifically when and where.

Welp, broke down and decided to just make it a weekend. I'll only be able to attend Thurs-Sun but I was able to book the last room in the Microtel
@reddozen I am registered and show on the "Who's Coming" list, but I didn't save the confirmation number described on the front page since I wasn't expecting to actually stay in NC. Is there a way for me to contact you and get that if I need it?

I met lots of outstanding folks with RX8s this year. Thanks for the good times. Hats off to Jeff, Jeff, Joe & Joe squared plus that unique individual Michael. There were many others but my old timers disease keeps kicking in blocking names from memory. The Nick crew were especially fun.
