This was a spare I had in reserve. However, I let another RX8 owner borrow and use it once for the National Championships. So it has been used some. It’s a standard 48-spline 1.25” OD x 0.188” (3/16”) wall thickness center bar with aluminum arms that attached to the splined ends. You can buy other center bars from Speedway Engineering in the same length with 0.063” (1/16”), 0.125” (1/8”), 0.250” (1/4”) wall thicknesses and also a 1.25” solid (not hollow) for stiffness tuning from softer than OE to hardcore max racing stiffness. The multi-piece design makes it easier to swap in/out the center bar than changing a 1-pc swaybar assembly.

The aluminum arms have three stiffness adjustment positions for the endlink attachment that allows you to fine tune the final stiffness setting for whichever center bar is being used. These have been machined to work with OE type endlinks with the integral threaded stud, but also work with bolt-on heim endlinks too. This is one thing that separates it from a pure racing speedway bar like Speedsource etc. because the arms would be too thick for the integral stud length.

I don’t have the urethane pivot bushings, but they’re a standard Energy Suspension part ENS-9-5165R (red, replace R with G for black). They do require cutting the bracket off on one side to clear the ABS wire mounting tab. A hacksaw or grinder will do it easily. Not shown are a pair of adjustable collars with set screws that slide on and keep the bar centered between the bushings so it can’t slide to one side or the other.

Another thing that makes this setup unique is that it uses straight arms with a wider bar. This provides a more direct application of the anti-sway forces than the shorter center bar with bent arms. The trade off is it limits how far inboard the wheel rim can be before contacting it at full lock. It will clear 17”x9” +48 wheels for me, but was right at the limit. 18” could be further offset because the inner barrel is a bigger ID than 17”. I also ran 18x9 +55 with it, but again that is about the maximum inboard wheel position limit. So the thickness is the same as the Racing Beat front RX8 bar, but with the longer center bar section it has less effective stiffness down closer to the aftermarket NC MX5/Miata front bar.

Which most people are running less offset for those widths and will have good clearance. Where you might get into a fitment issue is with wider wheels with high offset trying to keep them inboard to prevent rubbing the stock outer fender lip. If you’re interested, but not sure about this just PM me. I’ve run up to 10.5” wheels on an RX8 and am fairly informed about width vs offset clearance. I ran the duplicate of this bar for many years in the STX street tire race class without issue, which has a 9” wheel width limit.
