Looking to buy an R3 or Grand Touring S2 09-11 [CA]

I am looking to buy an R3 here in california, I used to own a Shinka a while back, and actively in search of a decent condition R3 right now. I might settle for a good condition grand touring, if u do have either one please send it my way with detail and price.
i love the R3 but it doesnt have a cool *** sunroof, but I will settle for either one.

For clarification, i am looking for S2 09-11 only, thanks every1.

Having recently completed a similar search, be prepared to look far and wide... They don't come up often, and the ones that do aren't likely to be nearby.

For an Rx-8 cali smog is easy. That particular rx8 has been on the market a very long time btw.

R3's for sale:
Local member in California blue and low milage LINK
Red R3 super low milage LINK

Adding on:
Here is the link to the R3 I think you mentioned in Florida. It's been on the market for some time now. Previously was marked for an unlisted price. LINK.

On that Florida one, the interior "seats, passenger dash cover, and steering wheel" look really rough for just 70k miles. The engine has some cheap intake on it, and it appears to be missing some of the front end cowling / bumper liners. IIRC someone else looked at that car in person and said it was pretty rough as well.

Update #3:
Here is a GT that has been on the market for a very long time. My concern is rust, being a car from Hawaii. LINK. It's my favorite silver color for the series 2, The interior looks to be in decent condition, except for the passenger air bag cover. But everything else falls in line with a 50k mile car. You would really need to look over the car in person and even get underneath it. But at first glance, at least cosmetically it looks clean.

In regards to a sun roof, if you like that feature, then perhaps skip the whole R3 idea and keep to the GT trim. From early December the market has been really dry for series 2 rx8's. Hopefully since the holidays have wrapped up the market will pick back up.

so has the grossly overpriced one in the first link

do not clink link #2 - goes straight into hyper spambot mode

hard to believe how easily a little glitter and red lipstick turns some men into saps who’ll give their birthright away, but good luck with your search.

Link 2 goes to a cars.com page. I run pihole at home, so a lot of ads are hidden to me. But it should be a standard car listings page.

Not sure what to make of your comment though... is that a comment about R3's or series 2's in general?

1st link: I tried but hes not budging on the price at all, i do value his car but thats just way too much out from my budget.(if u reading this, would u consider 19999 sir?)
2. The red r3 low miles is already pending sale at 24k.
3. The FL one doesnt have the R3 wheels which I really like, and it has full aftermarket exhaust, which I cant smog here in cali. Considering it but just it been sitting there for months, not sure if anything else wrong with it.

And the hunt continues ...

Explain the exhaust setup on the Florida car. On an Rx8 it's made up of 3 components, the header, a catalytic convertor, and the "cat back". Here is a manifold that will work if the header has been changed. The catalytic convertor, you'll need a new one. The cat back portion of the car isn't regulated by California and wouldn't fail a smog check.

I have a black 09 R3 and a low mileage parts car R3. Thinking of letting them go for space issues at my house because of homeowners association. Text me nine09two618927. I’m located in Southern California.

Here is a 2010 Silver Grand Touring that appears to be clean in Tennesse, 66k miles. URL: http://www.facebook.com/marketplace/...3453141314150/
Here is a 2009 White Touring in Texas, 90k miles. URL: http://www.facebook.com/marketplace/...0265969699831/

edit: I guess FB marketplace posts are blocked? If you can't find them.. I can PM them to you if you're interested.
edit 2: fixed it.. just didn't create a fancy link.

1st. Gray: Imma contact him see if we can work out a deal, since i need to transport them back to cali.

2nd. White: looks like it had gone thru some tough time. I just dont have time to deal with it. Rather spend 20k in a nice condition.

There is a 40th anni for sale at 22.999 I offered 20k and they were rudely declined the offer. Sadly if imma spend more than 20k rather save a little more or make payment on a used 911.

Thanks bro i really do appreciate ur help, been looking technically everyday.

I’ve used www.uship.com for auto shipping in the past. The one I’ve used a few times is montway (sp) abs have had no complaints. They can be really quick so you need to be flexible with your receiving dates.. I had my GT ship from Texas and show up less than 2 days later. Crazy quick.

For me personally.. Im more of a fan of the S2 platform. I still think they are more reliable than the S1. While the 40th anniversary is a cool trim. I have that color and it is also hard to keep perfect. Looks great but the r3 blue or liquid silver of my GT are my favorite colors on the rx8. But I’m also slightly biased. Another great color in person is the sparkling black. Which you find on 09-11 non r3 rx8’s. Hard to photo but in the sun.. amazing.. but it’s also black.. which I’m done with on cars.

on that 911 comment. IF you’re entertaining a 911 instead. You might want to go that route. They are great cars. I’ve contemplated selling my rx8’s to go that route myself. Either that or the new cayman gt4… but I also have to remind myself that driving a fast car slow is also boring.. that’s why I’ve not gone that route myself.

I would only consider a s1 40th because it got the r3 suspension and the sunroof => best of both world, i can deal with the reliability part, simple engine replacement isnt bad, i used to ran my shinka hard all the way up to 150k with out all those premix or bhr coil, simple run it hard everyday, always check on oil and coil.
Color wise, at this point i am happy if i can find a decent one lol.
Problem with going the other route is that i dont feel like giving my hard earned money to insurance company haha.

Ohio is a salt state... Just sayin. Speed knows about my rustphobia, and I'm sure would tell you (in a polite way, because he's a nice guy) that I'm nuts. I see a few red flags, but only a few, and one is difficult to tell if it's red or just a reflection of my red shirt in the looking glass. I'd ask the seller for closeup shots of the brake rotors and as much of the suspension as you can get (where the red possible reflection was), and try to get some photos up on a lift. It does look pretty good if you like red and everything checks out.

on BaT I’d expect under carriage pics for the red r3. And he’s not wrong.

also I thought the black BaT rx8 was a GT but it’s a Sport. So my bad.

For any car from a salt area. An engine bay shot without the cover gives a lot of info as well. Very hard to hide the rust in that area.
