I think they got the idea Dazy. :D

I told you in the pre-organization of the BBQ that most of the Houston people wouldn't leave town for an event. Houston people don't do road trips very well. In 7 years of running the club, I have managed to get only 10-15 people to go on a road trip.

Let's keep this thread on track.

The 04 will probably be gone by the time the bbq gets here, I would drive a couple of hours, but 5 is too much, I am too old for those long drives. I also don't want to be away from my new house and pool for the whole weekend, I work hard during the week and need the R&R.

Is the Zoom Zoom in Houston cancelled? I'm hearing the arena is now being used as a hurricane victims shelter.

With the way they are committing carjackings, and stealing cars they better beef up security.

I haven't heard anything. In fact, I just got an email from Mazda yesterday telling about the event and how to register. We will see as I know they are cancelling a lot of things. However, they are also hoping to move people out of the arenas and into temporary housing.

The arena, dome and convention center onsite are being utilized.

However as this is an outdoors event it does not have any bearing on the event at this time. The Reliant Center park is huge and can easily handle all of these activities (plus a NFL football game without a problem I think) I will have an official statement from the zoomzoomlive staff about their visit to Houston soon.

View of the complex:

Greenish areas are the possible location for the zoomzoomlive event. (where other events have been held) Redish areas are where Katrina refugees are currently located. All area inside Yellowish line is Reliant Center property.

Unhappy I received this email today

In response to Hurricane Katrina, Mazda has decided to cancel the Zoom-Zoom Live event scheduled to take place on September 24 th and 25 th in Houston Texas . Mazda supports the contributions being made by the Houston Astrodome and all of the volunteers that are working diligently to help the victims of this tragedy. The Mazda Foundation has made a generous donation to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief effort. We encourage you to do the same through either the American Red Cross ( redcross.org ) or the Salvation Army ( salvationarmyusa.org ).

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be aware that this event will also visit Dallas Texas on October 1 st and 2 nd . To register for the Dallas event simply return to zoomzoomlive.com , click on the ‘Event Registration' tab, and update your registration information.

We appreciate your understanding and support and look forward to serving you in the future.

Best Regards,
Mazda North American Operations

I plan to be there on 10-01 at 10:15.
I hope it will be worth the drive. I need some practice time in a Miata.
