Wtf, front plate ticket, anyone?

Blonde lady officer pulled me over for not having a front plate. I've had the car for a year now, with plenty of cops getting good looks at it, so this is a first time.

I guess since I was under 20 she couldn't help but give me a ticket instead of a warning.

Anyone know how much they usually cost?

Do what I did.
Go to court, but before you do, put the plate on, take pictures, and make sure you show pictures with both plates on.
Print them out, take them with you.
I got mine disputed as a "fix it".

I see.

And what pisses me off is how they're so many 8s/Zs/2000s/Vettes without front plates everywhere. I guess I was due. And some chick was going 50 on a 40 right infront of me.

haha yup.

I haven't driven with a front license plate for nearly 10 years now. I hate that law, it's retarded.

I've also been pulled over many times in those ten years and not once has a cop given me a ticket for it. They have asked about it though and I usually play dumb "we'll ocifer, i didn't know that texas had that law, but I do have the license plate at home. I promise to put it on as soon as I can."

That usually gets me off the hook if they ask.

She didn't ask where it was...I would of told her I had it in my car and I'd put it on asap.

But sure, pick on the student (she asked me if I went to school, how freaking irrelevent) brown guy in a red sports car, while everyone else drives over the limit.

Yep, I've had about 3 warnings for no front plates.

And you're only a year older than me.

I guess this is just a continuation of my serious case of bad luck I've had so far this year.

Didn't I tell you already? You're a freaking terrorist. God, get it straight man!

Ajax is right though. Just put it back on, take some pics, get it tossed out, remove license plate.

Yeah, I'll probably be doing that. As long as waiting in line doesn't take forever.

At the court? Shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes.

Plate Question

Ok so the guy got pulled over for no front plates...Too bad, so sad. I had one myself. But here is the question... You'll get pulled over for not having a front plate. What if you have a JDM plate in the front??? Would the cops still pull you or us over? Hey its a lisence plate, right??? It's not stolen. - Thanks- VC

Actually I just got pulled over for it yesterday. Well not me but I was in my bro's car when it happened. We were just driving down the base when this cop who is sitting at a stop sign turns on his lights and pulls us over. Two MP's get out and circle the car THREE TIMES!! Mind you these are the nerdiest cops I have ever seen in my entire life...well finally the guy goes to my bro and says "you know why I pulled you over?" Before he can say anything the two guys walk to the front of the car and look at the broncos plate he replaced his texas plates with and one guy sneers "Broncos...." .....they come back to the car and say get your license plate back on...and just walk away...get in there car and speed off....

My bro's license plate was in the front window the whole time anyways if a ticket was issued=)

Just attach your front plate and document with pics or whatever. Go down to municipal or justice of the peace court and show them the pics and hopefully you will get by with just paying court costs/fees. That's how it works here.

I agree, stopping a car for not having a front plate is very chick...., but it is still a violation and my best advice is just deal with it.

I got pulled over for not having a front license plate. The cop was really nice though. He still gave me a warning though, Just a warning =). I just came back from Las Vegas and was on my way to go watch that fast and furious 3 movie thingy.

I've asked various cops about their issue on front plates. While they all admit that it is technically illegal to not use one, not all of them seem to care. It's kind of hit or miss depending on which cop pulls you over. One cop told me that he's selective about what cars he will ticket for no front plate. He said that if it's a nice sports car that just looks wrong with a front plate, he won't ticket it but on other cars he would. The rookie cops always seem to be the worst about it. These are the new punks who have something to prove to the world. They always seem to get you for the dumbest things and are the meanest about it. There is a mod I want to do for my RX-7 that keeps the front license plate but allows it to fold up into the front end at speeds above 20 mph. I need an aftermarket front end though and that I haven't gotten to yet. Someday.

I personally think the front plate law is worthless and uneccesary just like most cops. I even use photoblocker on the rear plate. Whether or not it actually works I don't know but it is technically illegal as well. Of course you can't see it or easily prove it's there so it must not be!

well I am guessing that texas is a 2 plate state as I picked my 8 up in dallas and drove it back to las vegas last week and about 50 miles outside of el paso I was pulled over and given a warning for speed over 80 and no front plate. I am guessing he was only going to pull me over for speed over 80 and than noticed I had no front plate when I came upon him. Thank god he only gave me a warning as that would have sucked having the car less than 24 hours and getting a ticket

Yeah no joke. What the hell is a warning? I could get a ticket if I was passed by a speeding car!

Do what everyone has said.... Put it on.. take a few pictures that have a date stamp on them... go to court.... dismiss it. At most you'll pay $10 court fee.

Take them back off and enjoy.
