Who's the Best San Antonio Dealer?
Anyone have any experience so far w/ dealers in San Antonio. I have visited all 4 dealers and was surprised at the great customer service I got from 3 of them. BTW Ingram Park Mazda had one on the showroom floor that was marked up an extra $5000. I won't be buying from them, so it's down to the other 3. Please let me know of any experience you've had.

Just got back from Ingram (ipac). There is a blue one in the showroom and they received 6 RX-8's today. Titanium, silver, red and black. I think two are pre-orders and the rest are fair game. I've talked to Michael Thompson and Kathy. They are very nice to deal with. They don't act like the typical sales staff.
Any dealship will negotiate. Don't expect to go under MSRP but I'm sure the markup is negotiable.

I would love to see you come to Austin, but if you must stay in San Antonio, you might try Northpark. They recently took over the Benson store on San Pedro. See Ray or Ken and tell them Mike sent you. I think they will take good care of you.

I have two words for you about IPAC - RUN AWAY!!!
IPAC was, shall we say, less than truthful in dealing with me. Here's my story:
I went in there to talk to a salesman back in January (it's right next to where I work, so very convenient), and during the course of the conversation the salesman told me that the manager wouldn't guarantee MSRP or below due to market demand, but that there would 'probably' be enough units coming in that they wouldn't be marking up. I later faxed him my pre-order configuration, which he said he would order that day. I didn't hear from him at all that day, so I felt uncomfortable and called World Car Mazda. I spoke to Danny Davila, the Internet Sales Manager. I talked to him briefly, and got a very positive impression of him, and went in to see him that evening. We pre-ordered the car on that day (Jan 10th). All during the ensuing months, he was very responsive to my questions and pestering, and extremely pleasant and professional. Everything he told me about my car's status was accurate, and if he was unsure of something, he would tell me so.
BTW, when I preordered I asked about whether the car would be priced above MSRP, and he said that was not their policy. When I ordered, I wrote them a check for $500 just to reserve the car - they DID NOT cash it. I got it back the day I bought my car. The car was priced at MSRP plus TTL, just as we had discussed. They didn't try to tack on other packages. They made a half-hearted attempt to provide financing - I had 4% through my credit union, they countered with 3.5% and calculated the monthly difference - 8 bucks. I said I think I'll stick with my own bank, and the finance manager said "I probably would too".
I had special requests concerning pre-delivery, such as leaving paper and plastic on, and not mounting front plate. They complied with everything I asked for. It was a wonderful experience. They ALSO have the 10yr 100K mile powertrain warranty for NO additional cost. Also, they have an Auto Club that you become a memebr of, and they provide services such as free Defensive driving course every 2 months, discount coupons, and other things (I forget what - they were talking, and I was thinking about my car).
OK, back to IPAC. I didn't hear a SINGLE WORD from them until last week. They called to say the car they 'ordered' for me would be in the next week. I said that's interesting, because I hadn't heard from them in 7 months. I asked him what exactly they 'ordered' for me. Well, they almost had it right - the leather was the wrong color. I told the salesman that wasn't what I asked for, and that I got nervous about their lack of MSRP guarantee, so I ordered from someone else. (BTW, no pre-order gifts or emails came related to the car that they 'ordered' for me.
I hung up, and 5 minutes later the GM called and said they'd give me $500 under MSRP for 'my' car. I said I'd think about it.
Today I got a call saying 'my' car had arrived, and I said "No thanks, I already have one".
My advice - if you feel you want to buy from IPAC, get any quotation in writing from the GM himself, and have them show you the buy order to make sure it is correct.
What I REALLY think you should do is call World Car and ask for Danny Davila, and tell him Kevin sent you. I guarantee you will like him, and you will be treated right. Besides, IPAC won't give you the 10/100 powertrain warranty, and I think that's got some serious value.
Feel free to PM me and I'll send you my phone number if you want to talk more.

Thanks Mike, I have actually been talking w/ Ray over there at North Park. I will probably go order one next week from him. He said if I did it would probably get here around the end of November. Does that sound about right to you? The timing is fine with me, that's about the time I wanted to get one anyway, due to job stuff. Thanks again.

Hope they're giving you under MSRP, otherwise I fail to see why anyone would say no thanks to a free 100K mile warranty. Good luck with your purchase, whatever you decide.

the only reason I got my Protege5 at world car was because of the 10 year/100,000 power train warranty, but I do think in the future I would buy my next Mazda car from there. The buying experiance was not bad, but I think know mater what dealer you go to, buying a car aways makes you feel like you are getting F**ked in the ***. I do like to give my money to just one company.
World Car the guys are nice, but when some one wants your money they're going to be nice. when I buy a car, I know want I want and the sales man or woman is just in the the way. I know what options i want and how much I should pay. Nothing they say would make me buy something I do not want.
North park, i think are too new, and do not have that much experiance with mazda, but hope they do some thing with that building behide them. the stickers on the two RX-8's were 28 for non navi red RX-8 and 33 for the yellow navi, sun roof, and other options. I don't thing they have any more. Where would they put them?
In San Antonio Legend for sure. They must be one of San Antiono's oldest dealers. they might not be but I would think so. They are not part of some mega auto group. They are Mazda and kia but I would not hold that aganist them. They have a silver and yellow RX-8's out front.
I don't think North Park and Legend are marking up the prices too much. not 5 grand.
I would go to Austin for my next Mazda because Roger Beasley is a Mazda dealer not a Nissan, saturn, kia, mazda dealer.they are a old mazda dealer. They have many years of experiance with Mazda vehicles. They have other makes not just Mazdas. But Mazda is higher on the food chain over @ http://www.rogerbeasley.com/ which is what's wrong with IPAC, I think Nissan is there main focus. selling Altimas.
I may go to Bastrop, then I get to enjoy the drive home.
RX22 I would go to either to North Park or Legend in San Antonio

I am currently dealing with World Car in SA. Got them to drop the window etching "feature" .... which is standard .... and their interior/exterior protection plan. I am getting MSRP with 10 year/125,000 mile warranty. Not a bad deal in my book.

for service, definitely north park mazda on san pedro. the service writer (jay) is the most knowledgeable service writer I've ever come across. the guy's also really nice.
oh yeah. stay away from the stealers at champion toyota in austin. interestingly enough, I've heard horror stories from about all of champion's dealers.

Good to hear that about North Park, because I went ahead and placed an order with them. I felt most comfortable with them because they were very professional and I didn't get any of that sleazy salesman BS.

Northpark also has one of the best rotary technicians in SA .... Bruce Blang. Jay and Roy are some of the best service writers you will ever meet .... and talk to. (Jay will continue talking for hours if you let him.)

Yeah, the Nordic (sp?) Green was the one I was originally looking at to compliment my Montego Blue ..... but then I saw Titanium Gray. North Park just offered me $700 under MSRP .... but World Car has been extremely helpful. We will see. :D

It's a shame that there are Dealers out there marking the car
up the way way do. I know the Dealership you had mentioned and surprised they are doing that, They are A high volume store.
Your best bet is to call around and ask what they are doing you may have to travel out of your market. Good luck

IPAC is bunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they tried the 5000.00 mark up on me---got me for 1000.
I think anyone who bought there car their paid over MSRP
if you did not please put it here, *did IPAC give anyone a good deal?///
I was told and I knew it was not true- I had run flat tires, 6 disc changer, over 300 HP, and the one that really got me was, a protection plan CHARGE ----that was for my paint and leather----- all guaranteed- only to find out later it was a big fat lie!!!
\ ***they even took off the sticker and put it in the glove box, so I would not see the mark up at first….
So… at the time I thought it was not to bad, to over pay….-and not have to wait 30 days or more for my car…..
but with the HP buy back problem, its so .like poetic justice……
my car is a free loaner ,
till the other honest dealers get the car I want in stock and at MSRP or better..
world car, legend, north park… no one tried to mark up.. They just did not have any 8’s with the GT pkg…..
Funny how no one else had 8’s , while IPAC had a small selection to choose from… haha
wonder why? lol

I bought mine @ World Car in New Braunfels. Talk to Jim Gise. He's great! I bought the car for under MSRP. They have a bunch! BTW: Is there a San Antonio area rx-8 club?

About a month ago I went into IPAC, only because it is right down the street from my house, by the way. And right away a leech, I mean salesman came out, and started talking to me. So I decided to go to his desk with him, to see what he was going to offer. After he pointed at the MSRP price, right on the sticker, $31,100, he takes out a piece of paper and in HUGE letters writes $36,000.....then says, "If I give it to you for this price, will you sign today?" I looked at him for about a minute, and back down at the paper again, making it seem like I was considering it, and as a big smile appeared on his face, I looked up and said, "Are you for rea?" And all he could say was, what what, this is good. So, from there I just kinda told him where he could stick his offer. So a week after, the GM of IPAC calls me, and says he's sorry for the way that salesman acted, and he's been "taken care of", and to come in, and I'll get a special price. I go in, and talk to the guy the GM set me up with, and he offers me $31,100. I told him, I have never paid sticker in my life, and never will. I got the whole I have to feed my kids speach......after 2 1/2 hours, I got him down to $29500. Of course then, I said, ok....now lets talk about my trade-in. He wasn't so nice after that.....and tried to LOW BALL my 2001 Jeep Wrangler for $8,000. I said, "If that's what you're offering, I'm done playing games with you. Tell your boss he lost 2 sales this month for hiring a**holes like you" SO.....I'm back to square one again.

I got an X-5 BMW-
Sounds like the *first guy I talked to at IPAC... he just told me, Yeah there is a 5000. mark up- and its non-negotiable)
I was looking at the 2004 330i coupe 6 speed, man its so funny those guys at BMW make everyone else look like a bunch of kids!!!
The 330i is really not much more $34,000. Starting price
AND ALL BMWs get free oil and maintenance for life of the warranty!
I still love my RX-8 I have not given it back yet- (wish I could keep both) but the BMW is a different world can’t compare the quality!!!
(sorry to say that even my X-5 {SUV} gives you more kick in the butt then the RX-8-- and the 330i with the performance package is unreal !! (*but also $2900. Extra haha))
