Anyone know much about carbon fiber? My hood seems to have developed some kinda of white stuff on it. http://yfrog.com/5eimag0026cj

I did some searching and found out that the carbon fiber can get Oxidized over time and that several coats of polish and wax can get the cloudiness out in no time, so I ended up polishing and waxing my whole car. And yes, I will be there, I'm just trying to decide if I should take highway 75 down to Dallas or go through OKC and just stay on I35 the whole way...
Yes I have done a lot of work with C/F and Fiber Glass. They are very simular in how the react to waxes and polishes. I would suggest first getting some polish that is made to strip old wax off. Meguires makes a few products one that I have used is "Paint Cleaner". If you really want to restore it to a good hi gloss I would buff it using a high speed buffer with 3M - Polishing Pad Glaze Part Number: 05996 this will remove all wax and bring you gel coat back to what it originally was. Then you can wax it and start all over. I am in Sand Springs and would be more than happy to fix it for you. Or even better....teach you how to do yourself. This following week I will post a complete how to on buffing and color sanding for you guys. It will be on my site I will post links back here when it is ready.

I used meguires paint cleaner, polish and wax and it looks way better. I never thought that something like that would clear it up, I was worried it would need to be refinished or something.

I would highly suggest taking 75 to Dallas instead of 35. You will have to go thru some small towns with lower speed limits, but in the end it is way faster!
Qt -I'm glad you are making the trip. I would do like autumn said and take 75 to Dallas. You will save about 1hr of time. Watch your speed after you get off the turnpike. The small towns are awful especially Tushka.
Jenifer- I set mine on jack stands and did them all, let them dry 2hrs and then drove home. I let it sit overnight. Haven't had any problems. If we do a mod day. I'll borrow my friends stands to help.

I am ready for mod day I need my calipers pink! Oh also jim where can I get those side marker things over our side vents on the 8 the things u powder coated I want some and I want to do mine once I find some hot pink along with my calipers and how do I get them on?
Jenifer check rotaryfx.com. They have them from 60-100 dollars. I would spend the $100 and get the steel ones then have them powdercoated. That way the color won't chip.
Wish everyone a great weekend. I'm off to the Texas 8. See you guys when I get home.
