Thought I was getting some appearance package items today
I called a local Mazda dealership in Irving (I don't want to drag anyone's name through the mud, but if you live in the D/FW area, you know who it is as I think there is only one in Irving) on Monday to find out if they would match Rosenthal's advertised prices on some items I was looking for (front air dam, side aeros, front and rear splash guards and exhaust finishers). Guy called back in about and hour and said they would match the prices. I would still get it cheaper if I went with Rosenthal because they do free shipping over $150 and I wouldn't pay tax. But I was willing to pay a little more to get it sooner. I told him what I wanted and the color I needed them in. He said he didn't have those items in that color in stock, but they would arrive in two days on Wednesday. Today I get a call from them saying my parts are in. I took a couple hours of vacation so that I could drive from Lewisville to Irving and pick them up, and maybe have some time to start putting some of the stuff on today. I get there and I see a stack of parts behind the counter. I tell him I have items to pick up and who I am. He starts pulling the parts from the pile I saw and grabs the biggest box first. As he sits it down, he says "here's the spoiler". I'm thinking uh oh, I didn't order the spoiler. I looked on the label and it indeed says front air dam. I'm getting excited and then I notice that the color says Silver. My car is Titanium. I immediately told him that there was a problem. He says that all of the parts are silver. He checks his inventory, and tells me that they will have to reorder the parts because he doesn't have Titanium either. I just told him no thanks. I'm thinking "I just wasted gas and two hours of my vacation to come here and you ordered the wrong color". I didn't get a "sorry, I must have misunderstood you", or "I just made a mistake". Nothing. It led me to believe that they thought I asked for the wrong color. Of course... I've been driving the car for over a year, and have become a fairly well informed owner after being on this site for over a year, but I don't know what color my car is. I'll just order online and save the amount I would have paid in tax. Maybe I'll get some stainless strakes with the extra money.

Sucks they made that mistake, but it was probably just an honest mistake. They probably could have been more apologetic about it, but I still don't think they didn't anything too horrible.
Well, on the bright side.. at least your appearance package is coming in and will be here soon. Do you know how to install it? Get ready to bust out the drill bits and tear into that car.

wow, I love the above mentioned dealership. I can promise you this is not a regular occurance. I am suprised about this. But next time you order parts get an invoice or quote ahead of time and very all the facts of the deal

I agree with 8 is enough. I had a HORRIBLE service experience this past week at Hillard Mazda in Benbrook/SW FW and I called the Irving dealership since I've always had success there and Johnny, the service manager (who I deal with anyway) was MORE than helpful on the phone. I'm not going to go into my ordeal, but I'd recommend the Irving dealership in a heartbeat. Maybe they were just having an off day?

I was really mad at the fact that I wasted my time and my vacation. I wasn't necessarily mad at them, just mad in general. But when the parts guy just gave me this blank stare when he found out the parts were wrong, I lost all interest in doing business. If he would have showed remorse, I probably would have spent my $1,000+ at his dealership. I did see a Titanium with aftermarket tires and wheels on the lot. They had lots of nice cars. Even a yellow Lambo, although I don't know if they were selling it, nor do I know what it was exactly.

Well, its not easy when you're doing it, but once its done... it seems pretty simple. I wouldn't say its not easy.. just takes alot of time and alot of steps.
