Can we get a poll for who thinks Riley needs to be banned agian? lol

:fingersx: |
Do I really have to make another poll thread?
|
Why did they move it, who the hell looks at that forum anyway. Sometimes I don't get it, they disregard the useful suggestions and then create forums that are pointless (in my opinion anyway).
But I guess when I get my own forum I can run it how I like, |
you asking for a ban? LOL
i say we ban atilla..... |

I think that’s awesome that they moved it to the rotary event section! Think about it, this meet is starting to get noticed and will only get bigger now. Think about it, it is now next to Seven Stock and Deals Gap Rotary Rally. Think about it, this is HUGE… at least that’s my 2 cents…
|
thats what i was thinking^^

Further, I'm not sure that moving it to that section will actually get it noticed more, in the past we've always used the gulf forums for communicating, and now instead of checking one place for information there is two. Also moving it two weeks before the event is just bad form no matter how you look at it. |
I agree.
|
thats why the first meet was by far the best. we had maybe 10 cars. the whole environment was more chill. there wasnt any concern over waivers and driving groups and all.
i'm not saying some of that isnt needed. the premise of the first meet was the best tho. |
Good grief, there's no pleasing you. I know at least Steve had said (and I thought you had agreed) that The Texas 8 should be in the events group, and grumping that it wasn't getting enough recognition. Now that it's there, it's time to grump some more.
And yes, more people is better, because sponsors don't like to sponsor an event where 5 people show up. The more people, the more (and better) swag they're willing to part with to have their name associated with an event. If you just want to do a weekend cruise in the hills, that's fine, you're welcome to set something up that is intentionally small, but as far as The Texas 8 is concerned, bigger is better. |
I would have to agree with you Brandon (Creto) This is a Rotary event so why not have it in that section next to the other big RX8 events? Yeah it is kind of a pain that they decided to move the thread two week prior but oh well, we posted up a thread letting people know and posted a link on there as well, so people should not have any problem finding it.
As far as this event goes I want it to get bigger, I want it to evolve into something more then just a Saturday cruise, I want it to become a whole weekend type of event. Don't get me wrong I love the cruise and it will always be a part of this event but I do think we can make this into something bigger and better. |

As far as sponsors, yes you are correct about that part. Seeing as Steve agrees with you it doesn't much matter from my standpoint as he's the founder of the event. However, you've even said to me before that the point of the event was the people. You don't need swag to hang out with other cool RX8 peeps, and honestly the event would survive either way without it. As far as another event, that isn't gonna happen. I think this year will prove whether bigger is better. My guess is with that many cars on the road there will be problems. Problems is what I like to avoid. I'm just saying from my standpoint your not having to deal with logistics etc. Your the type that gets in the car and goes, while I am too, I worry about all the people in front of me and all the ones in back of me to make sure they are having a good time/arent lost/are following the rules. Its alot to handle, which from my point of view bigger is NOT better. |

Don't get me wrong I love the cruise and it will always be a part of this event but I do think we can make this into something bigger and better. So the real question is WHY do you want it bigger, and will more people take on more responsibility to make it so? Alot more people helped this year in terms of planning than last year, but the dragon practically has a whole organization just to support that one event. More voices means more conflicts. If the event is all about meeting people, the bigger it gets the less opportunity you have to do so (this sounds counter intuitive I know) The more people there are the less time you have to spend to get to know each person. |
I did just realize however there was a contradiction in my argument. I can't say on one hand that moving the thread to the events section will kill it because the area gets too little traffic, and then be worried on the other hand that the even will grow.
Therefore, because the event was moved to the rotary section and I want to keep it small there is no conflict. Carry on. |
lol

Yeah I agree with Seatownracer and Creto I guess, I just don't think many visit that forum on a regular basis so we have to do our best to promote it in other subforums so newbs can find it. Constant reminders and hype is what gets people to attend. We have to make sure out of sight, out of mind doesn't happen.

can i agree with both sides?????
Yes big is better..... to a point After this event we will have a better gauge on where we should go with it next year |
Hmmm...sounds like you guys are going through what some of us (socal) went thru when we started up some of our meets.
if i may suggest some things... -Addressing the attendee's - go figure, most people are adults but most of them never understood the rules of not acting like an idiot. We usually always address the group and go over some ground rules (ie no driving like a ricer, no burnouts, no speeding etc.) before we actually move the group. We also advise that anybody that can't follow the rules will need to leave immediately because none of us want attention from the black n' whites. -Communication - appointing other people to share the load of responsibility helps a bunch. That way the host or whoever is leading the group doesn't have to be every where all the time. Walkie Talkies help too... -Postin' the link in the siggy: To get it out to the n00bz, just put the link in your signature. Sometimes you can't post whore about the meet but simply leaving a trail should work just as well. Wherever you go you'll be silently advertising about the meet and it'll pretty much be idiot proof - no more directing people or people asking 'where's the link to the thread??' I hope everything works out with your event. Organization and communication are probably the toughest parts. Rotary events are typically a lot of fun since we're such a small community (compared to others) but from what i've seen - we're probably the most tightly knit. :bigok: |

I am pretty sure most of you have seen this and maybe even had it happen to you but I thought I would go ahead and post it up seeing we are 2 weeks away from the event.
Links below talk abou the RX8 clutch pedal bracket problem....if any of you are noticing any of the "symptoms" of this please get it looked at....the last thing that I would want to happen on our cruise is for someones clutch pedal bracket to brake and cause any accidents or injury. So PLEASE everyone get under there and check out the bracket on your car and make sure it looks ok. Thanks! https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/clutch-pedal-snap-off-8-year-warranty-recall-%7E%7E%7E-132912/ https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/bulletin-nhsta-investigating-2004-rx-8-clutch-pedal-bracket-issue-183972/ http://www.aboutautomobile.com/Compl...al+and+Linkage ***I posted this on the event thread as well*** |
My clutch pedal doesn't have an issue, although, I think Brandon has an issue with his clutch.
