Yes, but it must be done by a mod. The best I can do is a delete a thread (something I've done in the past). The mods are sometimes pretty fast, others they are pretty slow (I asked the mods this morning to delete everything past post 82 in the track thread to no avail), so I am at their mercy.

I can see this is going no where. I will just come to the meets when they are planned if they are something I can make, interested in and afford and just keep quiet. I will no longer give input because I can see where it gets people and why they don't say anything or give input. I will no longer respond to meet threads unless they are within our Tulsa group or to respond to ones like the Texas 8 to ask any questions as to the details (how to book room or where, plans, etc...) and if I will be there. Have a great week everyone.

1. Highspeed<<<Darnit man, can you please write your paragraphs to where I can read them?
One long paragraph with no breaks, etc is so confusing to read. Did you not learn that in HS?

2. Yes, polls have been done. I remember participating in a few of them.

3. NO, all members should not plan what to do at the Texas8, that is what the organizers are for.
Check out the Dragon events, do you think all rotary heads decide on what happens at those events, ( NO, the organizers do..with of course the rotary heads interests in mind)

4. I do not want to drive from South Texas all the way to D/Fw, just for a planning event. Too costly and time consuming.

PS.
See how I broke my long paragraph into smaller readable ones? (Highspeed)

Ya, I would love to see how a teleconference would work....with 20-30 of us all over Texas/OK.

How would that eat up my cell minutes? I get 500 min/month, so those would last for about 15-20 minutes?

That being said, I for one would also like to see other things done in a state meet.

I have attended different 8 meets. Each event does things differently. The Austin group meets and does the Leakey route (more than once a year)(also the Xmas route)

The events/meets at the Dragon do it a bit different, the Texas 8 does it a different way. The Houston club meets monthly with a run or two ever so often (Independence run on the Brazos), Houston group did it different, just meet/party. So did the north Houston group.

I have participated in those and have enjoyed esp the peeps and the time with our cars even if Jose did try to burn us doing the BBQ thing.

Thanks for everyone putting in all that hard work.

You've obviously never tried to accomplish anything on a teleconference with more than 5 people.

They are great when you have a few people, but worthless when you have a large group. We've tried this at work and it's just useless. They're ok as a "press conference" where someone talks and others ask questions of said person. But to have everyone call in and try and discuss how to handle a meet is a waste of time and I can promise you people will be more frustrated after the call than before it.

Now if we want to have a call to discuss what is being planned and have people volunteer to handle certain tasks, that might be a better idea. But again, this is again handing out information, not a real "discussion".

Just my $.02 which I'm sure no one wanted...

Actually, yes I have...several times in fact.

And it wouldn't be everybody talking at once...each area would have their own separate meetings, come up with a list of ideas, and then each representative would perform the teleconference...that way it's only 4 or 5 people.

All for what? The Texas8 has been, is, and always will be a weekend meet in the Texas hillcountry to run the 3 sisters and other roads. It's a driving/sight seeing meet.

Now if you want to add things to it, feel free to PM Riley/Seatown/Creto with your ideas and they may try to work them in. But given that we drive down on Friday and back on Sunday, there's not a lot of time left for other things.

I know there have been talks about making it longer, but for a lot people, it's some planning and effort to get that time off.

So I'm really curious as to what good having a bunch of people get on a phone call would do when this is still Riley, Seatown, and Creto's meet. If anything, it'll just **** people off more because they think they are being ignored or their opinions don't matter.

There's a long story to this...I'm not sure who you are or why you keep commenting toward my posts, but stop...I'll be more than happy to meet in person if you feel the need for me to explain.

Holy **** this is crazy. And I literally laughed out loud at Nick's post. Awesome.

Raymond, how are you man, long time no hear, how is the Shinka?

Polls have been done in the past, they were full of epic fail. I agree that events do have organizers for a reason and it is really the best way to go.

So...I guess my question is...instead of trying to voice the opinion of the group, wouldn't it be easier for someone who is personally interested in voicing opinons/participating/having say in the events just ask how to/if they can become an organizer as well? Seems like highspeed has some interest and probably some good ideas...so maybe just talk to Thomas/Steve/etc and ask how to get involved?

Not that the group does not appreciate a voice...just that as individuals, a lot of us (or maybe just me) probably don't have the interest in getting more involved (unless of course the organizers needed help with something inparticular), we just wanna participate with the group at the events...whatever the events may be.

Finally...who needs Jersey Shore when this stuff is available?!

You mean that people ignored the original question being asked and hijacked the thread with other stuff instead?

Shoot Thomas and Steve a PM. I'm sure they would love to have your help getting things done. They just aren't going to open up the meet to whole-sale changes. But if you want to help find dinner locations or work on getting sponsors and stuff like that, I'm sure they will gladly take the help.

Again, I'm not saying they don't want people help out, they just aren't going to listen to a bunch of major changes, especially getting this close to the meet.

Just shoot them a PM and I'm sure they'll find something for you to do.

Cool deal, will give it a try. I had the pleasure of meeting everyone last year at the 8 and even crashed at Thomas' house. Pretty nice house too I have to say and I appreciated it. The people are cool as hell down there...and if I didn't hate big cities...I would move down lol

Actually, I would be open to whole sale changes, as long as they are practical and workable. I love spicing things up a bit (which is why I tried to change what eating locations I could.) I'm just not open to having those discussions in a thread on the forum.

Technically speaking the track day idea was going to be a big change

Well the infamous poll that I at least am referring to is the T-Shirt thread that I ended up deleting because it got so bad.

I love the idea of crowd sourcing things, but the problem with it is that when people's idea/suggestions don't get taken for whatever reason, very few have the maturity to deal with that and then start complaining and making a big deal over literally nothing.

The point of events is to get people together and enjoy each others company and honestly threads like the track thread or the T-shirt thread are not conducive to those goals. I'm all all for answering questions and I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong or screw up. (I was def over the top in my first reply to this thread. I was in damage control over drive and just lost it)

I wish you guys would understand that its important to me that there be no bickering, drama, or airing dirty laundry etc in those threads. It turns people off completely and it makes my job of putting meets together more difficult. I could care less about all the bickering in the lounges etc. I can't fathom why its so hard for everyone to understand that Texas 8 threads need to stay pristine, especially since these events are sponsored!

You know what?...You're right...I am taking this too seriously...I take everything too seriously...But then again, my attitude got me a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry when I was 20 years old, and a chemist job with the world leader in eyecare by the time I was 19...So I can't really complain.
