SGP In Houston (Help)
Whats up folks? Aight, so we have an rx-8 here that I have been trying to diagnose for quite a while and we think his ECU might be damaged. We want to swap it out for a known working unit but he has a 6spd and the only other 8 here is auto.
So what I need is someone in town with a 6spd 8 thats willing to let us borrow your ECU for an Hour. I'll throw you $20 to cover your gas and make it worth your while. Also, if you would like we can show you around and hang out in the shop while we check it out.
Throw me a bone here guys, this customer is a real cool kid and his car is turbocharged with a new reman from Mazda, we want him back on the street breakin it in as soon as possible. If you are interested, pm me, call the shop, or post in this thread for more info.
Thanks,

Go Texas Longhorns!
Brett, the ECU has an imobilizer built into it so I'm not sure if you can just install another one for a MT to test if it will work.
I would check with Racing Beat (ask for Jim Meder) and see if there is a work around.

I'll check that out Alan.
We believe he might have an ecu problem because it has had a steady rear rotor misfire and Ive checked and double checked the injectors, coils, plugs, wires, and the e shaft sensor (as well as cleared the memory). Ive also done the compression test and checked out good even though the engine is brand new. I have also checked all the connectors against the ECU to insure that they are all in the proper locations. So before we go any further I need to know that the ecu is good.
