San Antonio Headlight Restoration
 

Hey I found this chick (yes a young girl) who does headlight restoration for $25.00 and she comes to you. I don't have pics but you guys can see in person. Mine were pretty bad and I had used Plast-X and it was marginal at best and never lasted longer than a week or two. She uses a buffer and sand paper.

Let me know if you want her info. I should have taken before pics, you would be floored. I still have some pits in the plastic from the years of highway driving but the difference is night and day. I was very impressed.

Can't beat it for $25.00. She was trying to show me the process and I told her not to bother because for $25.00 I'll just have her do it every few months as needed. She had a Acura TL and said it lasts typically about 6 months or so.

Yeah I was gonna have her polish my knob too but I was at work.

Won't you jus further worsen the damage to the headlight by doing this? thought a protective layer was needed?

for $25 you can buy all the materials required for this menial job and do it multiple times yourself.

Good point, though there are some headlight restoration kits that do replace the protective layer.

I did mine last week and spent $30, but that's because I bought the polishing ball for the drill and all.

Yeah you can do it yourself but I was hesitant about sanding my headlights and I don't have a buffer or a grinder so..... And yes the protective barrier is effected but it gets resealed so. Keep in mind my headlights have about 85k highway miles of driving from New Braunfels to Med Center everyday.

If I could do it all over and my car was new (Grunge, TBk) I would Laminex (sic) them clear to protect them. Then when the film gets jacked up you just peel it off and re-apply.

Eventually I will replace my headlights with new ones and protect them from the start.

Where did you find that Laminex? I was noticing last night that i already have some dinks in the lights.....


where is the thread you were talking about last night with the chick having issues with NP and getting her a rental while the engine is being replaced.
