They told me that they have the best Service department or some bull, telling me it was the main service dept in Houston. That may be so but it sucks. If you do a search on my posts you can see the complaints that I have previously posted. I only have 41 posts so it wont be that hard lol

Well that's terrible to hear... I just bought an 8 from them 2 weeks ago. I was also told that the service department was top notch...
Unlike one of the other folks here...I had a great buying experience with Jeff Haas Mazda. I found my salesman (Ted G.) knew a ton about the 8, and answered all of my questions honestly. I had no surprises coming into this vehicle. I did my homework here on rx8club.com first anyway...
I'll be due my first oil change in a few months also... Will have to have someone look at the car for the recalls. I'll search for your other posts here shortly. Thanks for the heads-up..

I honestly only trust Jeff Haas-- the service guy Allan Hempel has an RX8 so he keeps pretty in tune; he's the only one I go to. Best Mazda--formerly known as Jay Marks SUUUUUUCKS! They've always sucked.

Ted Griffin shot straight with me... Great salesman...actually owns an 8 also.
I will definately bring my 8 to them for the first oil change and checkup for the recalls. Then we'll take it from there. I was treated great there for the sale, will be a loyal customer if service is as good as sales.

I bought a Pro5 from Ted at Jeff Haas when they first came out--he was terrific!
I've had mixed experiences with their service department. Mostly good but with the occasional glitch. It's not very convenient for me (I live in Pearland) but we had a horrible purchase experience at Jay Marks and I vowed never to return. I wasn't real impressed with Clear Lake, either, when I was shopping for my Pro5.
I may try the new Russell & Smith Mazda for my next regular service, since they have a shuttle to the med center, which would be a ton more convenient than hoofing it all the way out to Jeff Haas.

We bought our Mazdas from World Car in San Antonio, but moved to Houston a year after I got my 8. (Judy's Zoom is a Miata 2001 SE). I work in Gulfport MS, but like Jeff Haas Mazda (and Allen Hempel) enough to drive 400 miles for an oil change. Really, they've been terrific, and treated me superbly. I now have 49,000 miles on the clock and bought their warranty extension to 100,000.

My car had a lot of problems early on, and since I lived in Memorial, and Jeff Haas is 5 minutes from my house, that's where my baby went to get fixed.
The negativity of the dealership comes on a person-to-person basis. Some people would act patronizing and had a "i dont want to hear your ****" attitude when I would describe problems, but some would ask, "is there anything else you need fixed today while we're taking a look."
Freeman Mazda in Dallas is incomparably superior to Jeff Haas, and that's where I go now.

We bought our 8 from Gilman on hwy 59 South, they had over ordered, and we got ours for invoice, and there were a couple of small interior trim pieces that had some small scrathces, and they replaced them. We have been back there for service and Butch has taken good care of us.

Omg!!!
I can't believe Butch is still at Gillman... NINE years ago (for the first 4 warranty years), he was my service manager when I bought my M-Edition MX-6 there ! He was pretty good back then, so I guess he's only gotten better!

Go Texas Longhorns!
I like Jeff Haas, I've gone there for years for all my Mazda's and they have alot of service staff that know the rotary. I use Allen Hempel also and really like him.
If you need a non-dealer shop, Mazmax is a good place for rotary's, as Brian Smith (service manager) is a member of the Houston RX club and has a FC, and FD. Mazmax is not a tuner shop, but can do any kind of stock repair, suspension work and can get hard to find parts. I trust Brian and I've seen their work.

Jeff haas was an extremely honest dealership, I would expect the same to carry over in there customer service, but I can tell you i was extremely dissapointed with Best Mazda, rude, and stealthy dealership. They are exactly the most honest dealer.

I take my car to Munday on 1960 and they are pretty good.
It is not a very large dealership and they can't do allignments on cars with 18" wheels!!
I actually bought my car from Jeff Haas in September '03 and I can tell you a funny story. About 5 months after owning the vehicle, my car couldn't go into 6th. So I took it to Jeff Haas for them to take a look at it. The work started in early January, and they quickly discovered they had to order new transmission parts that were backordered to fix it. in the repair process the transmission of my car was out of the vehicle and there was literarilly a hole where my gear shift was (more on that later).
Well, after a little more than 2 weeks they finally got my car fixed. So I pick up the car on my way to work. When I got to work I realized that my coat that I left in the backseat of my car now had pet hair all over it and there were paw prints all over my center console. Boy, I was pissed; I always clean up my car before I take it in for service (the better you treat it - the better they will treat it). Since my car had been gone so long I thought someone might have been joy riding in it with their Saint Bernard. I mean it was a mess.
I called their service department to vent and tell the service manager about the mess. They said that they saw the mess but they thought I brought it in that way! I went from pissed to nuclear. They calmed me down and said they would try and find an explaination.
About an hour later the service supervisor called back with a hypothesis. A stray cat they had seen around at night had probably crawled up through the transmission hole and made a home in my car while they were waiting for parts to fix it. While he explained his idea on the phone, I started looking at some pictures I had made (which I was just about send them to Mazda N.A.) and noticed he was right. The hair wasn't dog hair but cat hair and the paw prints were too small for a dog. And to put the sweet ending on the story, it looked like it was more than one size of cat print and more than one color of hair.
So during the coldest part of the year my car was probably the cozy home of mother cat and her young kittens. Never in my life has my emotions gone from "Arrgggh I'm going kill you #$%#*&@!!" to "AWWWWH how sweet." so quickly
The service supervisor offered to drive out personally to my work (in the Woodlands) to clean it up and he offered me two free passes to Rev It Up for the trouble. The clean-up wasn't necessary but I did take his offer to Rev It Up.
Needless to say I would still be going to Jeff Haas if they weren't so far away from home and work.
