I went autocrossing last night with the SCCA guys for the first time in my RX-8. This car was definately meant to be autocrossed. I had a blast, and the highlight of the evening was watching the best time all day being turned in by a rotary powered beast. Some guy was racing out there with a completly custom built car that was powered by a 3 rotar that just decimated everything else. All in all, it was a pretty fun day out on the track. Sorry I didn't get any pictures, my friend with the digital camera didn't show. Hope to see more RX-8s out there next time around. :D

Yep, the SCCA Solo II event at Gulf Greyhound Park.

The three-rotor sprite belongs to multi-time National Champion Scott McQueen. 1600 lbs., and the last time he checked, he reports about 500 hp at the rear wheels.

It was a fun course, and I enjoyed it also. I took a few pictures (not very many, though), and they are at the link in my signature.

That was you I saw racing earlier in the day. Nice car. I don't know if you noticed me in my red 8, but I raced one of the night heats.

There were plenty of cool cars out there, not just the 3 rotor. There was a nice vette with the ultima kit on...looked like a formula one car and a shelby cobra that also ran the night race. Next time I'm going to remember the camera.

Yep, saw you when you drove in. Stop over and introduce yourself next time. There was also a Titanium RX8 that showed up, but I didn't see if he ran or not (we only stayed for the first half).

Did you run BS? What was your number? I save all the results, and this will help me identify you next event.

I was in STC number 649 i believe. I go to A&M though, so during the school year I'll be autocrossing with the sports car club up there.

That titanium one ran a 58 or 59, I think he was in BS. Pretty good driver.
