Let's end THAT subject and consider it lessons learned. Let's focus on bringing the rotary community together. Next year and the subsequent ones should be better.

On a side note, if the guilt is killing people. I guess you can paypal me. I need the money for Starbucks!!

Memories from the trip:
1. Cracking up at how many times we got lost and pulled the dukes of hazzard moves to get on or off the highway or over into another lane only to stop and turn quickly.
2. Laughing at the Audiobahn truck in front of us who kept putting on his left blinker and then moving over quickly to the right or turning right (and vice-versa) because his GPS was wrong for the mall trip.
3. Meeting new people (for me there were lots of new faces).
4. Again laughing at all the people that forgot their sunscreen and ended up a little bit crispy at the end of the trip.
5. Learning how to play poker (kind-of) and being in the "party room" at the hotel.
6. Somehow ending up semi-sober and getting to watch everyone else (much more laughing involved in this)
7. Lots of pictures and lots of pretty 8s.
8. Watching the guys dance...some who said they never would (yes...you know who you are and the dance in front of the window was just downright sexy!!) :D
9. Dancing on the bar counter and with the bouncers outside of the clubs (heck...just dancing period)
10. Hearing about one of the guys getting kicked off of the street and back into the bar. (now how does that happen?)
11. Riding in the bicycle cart and watching everyone scream "Monkey."
12. Taking the twisty backroads back home (can't even explain the rush when I finally looked down and realized how fast we were going...15mph corner at 55mph....weeeeeeeeee!!!)
13. Passing my bro-in-law in BFE Texas (why is it that I can't get away from my family even for one weekend?)
14. Making new friends and getting to put faces and personalities with names (helps me to understand what everyone is talking about on here since I don't get to go to the meets very often).
15. Crashing when I got home from exhilarating exhaustion.

What a weekend. I would do it again in a heartbeat. For you Austin guys that were frustrated with us...keep in mind that this was our first time to every try anything like this. It gets better every time and there are always problems with the first trip inevitably. I only bought a drink at the Oasis and I know I paid for that with gratuity, but I am sorry for you guys who got stuck with the bill. I don't know who left it, but shame on them. Also keep in mind that we were in a strange place and although at least one of us "kind-of" knew where things were, that person was not always with us to lead. I think next time it would be wise for us to make sure that we stay together as a group and maybe involve an Austin member in getting us from place to place so that we do not get lost and go in circles for 30 minutes (as mentioned above though...that was a highlight to my trip because I laughed the whole time). I think the personality of the group as a whole makes a difference. The DFW group is very laid back. We did not even stay together as a whole group and I often wondered where other members of the group were...although this is not always a good thing, it seemed to be just the way things were. It ended up being pretty nice at times though...all of us did the things that we really wanted to do. Again I am sorry that it ended up being a bad experience for you guys. I really enjoyed meeting you all at lunch (I was only a follower on this trip so I had no control over the situation...all I cared about was not getting left behind and getting lost in Austin). I hope we get to do it again and together we make it a much better trip this time with both parties being involved in the planning.

No, seriously though...how did this happen? I saw a bill go to our table and to the table next to us. How can a third bill with EVERYONE on it have gone to the third table? As much as people want to drop this, I think someone got screwed and this needs to be sorted out.

Damn, someone should have kept that receipt.

I vote we boycott Oasis from any further meets/gatherings, it almost appears we got billed twice or something, and for them not to do seperate tickets baffles me as the waiter dude could have made some serious cash if they'd have done things right. (and he should have, he was busting his **** that day) Next time we pick a place that has their shizzy together as far as billing people hell, we could even pick a place and cook our own food! City (aka Emma Long) park comes to mind and there are other places along the rivers/lakes around here and elsewhere. Maybe we all need to collectively come up with something in a neutral spot (say like San Antonio or somewhere on the coast) and go from there

all i can say are plans are overrated.. sticking to a schedule with a few alcoholics and people who are excited about meeting new people and hungry people and people working kinks out of their car because it wasnt ready until time to leave and bitter people is really hard to do....

all that the DFW people can say is sorry it worked out that way. i personally think if you guys came to DFW and decided to go party downtown or where ever you guys end up and us dfwers didnt know where yall went.. i dont think we would mind as long as we found out you guys were having fun.

and i do remember going to a few different tables asking what the plans were.. we were told Van's at 4 30 and it was the DFW people and like 3 austin people who showed up.. where were you guys at Van's???? i saw more Austin RX7's than i did 8's at that place....

i have no hard feelings i would hope the austin people dont... yeah if we do it again we need to work some kinks out but all in all i went to austin to meet some new people, get drunk and have fun.... i did all three!

We specifically asked prior to ordering ANYTHING how our guy was going to do the checks.
For us on the lower deck, each table was a seperate bill.

Sounds to me like either the Oasis pulled a fast one on the top tables, or someone at the top tables welshed on the bill.

Only problem with the coast is the salty air. Jackie can attest to how the rental car looked. I don't think most of us want our cars like that. I like the beach, just not what it can do to my car.

There's always tubing. I think we need to find a theme for the next meet. I know most of us enjoy driving our cars. If we had more time we could do a long scenic drive. We could a history run or something. Just throwing ideas out there.

Make a packing list. I've been to a couple of the meets were I didn't realize we had the chance to go swiming. Weather here in TX changes really fast, so bring wet weather gear and colder equipment.

Lets fix the little things we found not to work this last meet and go from there. The Texasheatwave is pretty soon. So if y'all want to do that we need to jump into planning now. Hotels will fill up fast.

true, keep forgetting about salt water lol Heatwave would be awesome, don't know if anyone is up for actually showing their ride or just all showing up, checking out the show and then doing our own thing later that night. I have plans on being there and (hopefully) having my car loaded with stereo stuff from my best friends spankin' new car audio shop, I will also have my car lowered by then, the only thing I won't have (but that could change) is the wheels I want, but you never know

blond hair, blue eyes, and working on a mad sunburn sitting next to Tiff (aggietiff) at Oasis. (also fighting the temptation of playing my "texas fight" ringtone the whole time sitting next to her, I figured that to be a bad idea in case I ever get stuck in Aggieland. might come back to haunt me.. haha) I hope to take pics of my car after work today, trying to think of a good place to go.

I apologize for my post earlier this morning. It was too early for me to be thinking clearly.

Positive Notes:

I have to say, aside from all the confusion everyone else experienced, I was very relaxed and had a great time. It was the best weekend I've had since my first year at Memphis in May (2002). I didn't want to come back. As far as going against the Oasis, I disagree. I like the place. It had a beautiful view, nice drinks, and a good place to park and meet. We should be more careful about the bill.

6th street was awesome. I'm actually glad we weren't on a "schedule", although some opinions on good places to go would have been nice. I had enough to drink and enjoyed getting to know the people better. It was a picture perfect night.

Of course Sunday morning was a little rough as a few of us didn't feel so great and were tired. The twisties were fun and it was nice to test my car a little. Although my tires were bald it still handled absolutely flawlessly. But then the fun was over. I look forward to next year (Or month :D) when we go again. Thanks to everyone for a great time.

I'm with you Slim on liking the place. But one thing that is for damn sure is we let the wait staff know in advance that we have a strong suspicion they pulled some **** last time and we are going to be all over their *** on this one. We definately don't want any discrepency on any tabs without everyone there to clear it up and then we leave.

Nah...its all good. I was a bit worried about my aggie stickers on my car being in Austin and all. I would have played back the aggie fight song for you...followed by spirit of Aggieland. I like TU peeps, most of the time it is fun to banter. :D

TU just rolls off the tongue much easier than UT....especially when chanting "beat the hell outta TU" WHOOP!! :D

Not to mention that 6 years in aggieland and you will be forever ingrained with that chant and all the songs singing sweetly about how bad the aggies hate the longhorns. I actually listened to the songs a couple of times (this is after learning them well enough to be able to sing them in my sleep) and some of them are just downright mean.

I thought Tech and A&M had a bigger rivalry than UT and A&M. My mom's side has alot of Aggies, but I don't see myself going there.

Funny thing with OU guys. Half of my ACFT in Bosnia were out of OK. UT lost that year(like everyother year) to OU, so we painted tons of Horn's all over their ACFT before sending them back. Seeing the look on their faces when they came down to pick them up was priceless. Ed knows how big this area is on a BlackHawk-The entire underside of the hydralic deck sliding pylon cover was a TX flag. When you went to open it, the light would hit it just right so that the entire area was bathed in red, white, and blue. I'll see if I can dig up a pic...

To Aggie's #5 - "Pass!"

#8 - Girl, do tell.... do tell..... :D

#14 - I second that totally!

I would make that drive again in a heartbeat myself and I was there for a shorter time than everyone else. I had a great time though!

I'm ready for another trip - when and where are we goin'?!

I think I've already said it, but it warrants saying again: I have never seen Jenkins and Nyt-Owl so drunk! I was literally laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. They were so goofy together, kept high-fiving and screaming monkey at each other, Nyt-Owl with vomit on his shirt falling off the bed onto the floor and Jenkins saying that he couldn't drink anymore, but kept on getting more drinks anyway. Scalli getting his groove on at the club and Jenkins doing the same in front of the window! Oh man, it was priceless!

That weekend gave ROTFLMAO a whole new meaning!! D Can have some more please? :D
