OK mass meet event planning thread!!
New thread from end of OKC metro roll call thread.
Welcome to the planning thread!!
Big thanks to Jantzen for coming out Saturday morning. It was good to meet another forum member.
Next, we need to get a large meet togther. Probably need to plan now for something in April/May/June since apparently the weather is going to be crap for the next few weeks, and school is back in (not all 8 owners are 25+ like me and the rest of the OK guys I've met). I suggest we try and get a large meet together and try to include as many areas from the gulf/midwest and any other regions as possible. I know some peeps down in LA that I hung out with last summer, but they wouldn't come to a meet in Laffy from NO. So that may not happen unless it gets huge. It's worth a shot though I guess.
First off:
Let's get a list started of all the aspects of a big meet we would like to include. I figure since we are starting 5-6 months in advance on planning that we should be able to come up with some decent ideas. If the other regions can get big meets together, then why the hell can't we. So, lets begin the list:
Venues:
Events:
Raffles/Prizes:
Show?: (y/n)
autocross/drag: (tied to venue: TV, etc...)
Vendor participation: (y/n)(if so, suggestions)
I am not a professional event coordinator so I am always looking for help, and have no problem in letting someone else take control of this. As an 8 owner and fan, it can be disheartening that there are no 8 specific meets very often, if at all, in OK. If this could turn in to an interstate meet, that would be even better. If anyone has experience with putting an event of this caliber together or is interested in playing a big role in planning it, that would be great. Lets make this a great meet and get people involved and provide a place for 8 (and 7's too if they are interested) to get together, exchange knowledge, sell/trade/buy parts, test your track prowess or show off you hard work.
Lets get some ideas flowing and try to make an event happen. I know we can do it, and I know you guys would be down for a big event.
