I am actually setting aside about 10k for the car, engine and upgrading brakes and suspension.
What about the SC? You should get one in red.

I am still making out good.
only $3,200 invested so far.

and it has a freshly rebuilt trans, including torque converter,
it runs and drives and went up to 73mph today according to them.

so i am still happy with my purchase.
worst case worst i pay another $2,500 to have motor rebuilt.

then id have a perfect 8 for $5,000 total.
can't beat that seeing how i was going to finance 1 with cloth interior
for close to $13,000

hes saying he only spent 3200 on his car, he was going to buy one that costs 13k.

Its a pretty good deal but its still a 4 port

04RX8TX 10-08-2011 04:03 PM

Just picked up my 8.

Drove it all way back from universal city to my house near sea world,
man it drives awesome!!! Love the handling!!!

Felt like a million bucks lol.

Now few things. radiator light is on, weird cause he had it replaced 3 months back, does not overheat.

Also im sure the cat is clogged. the plastic above one of the exhaust tips is melted lol
so not sure why cause the other is not melted at all.

Either way im pretty stoked right now!!

Also ac compressor is out and the guy said so is my power steering,
i thought the 8 had electric steering?

it does feel tight but very drive able

J8635621 10-08-2011 05:38 PM

When my engine went, I melted the shroud on the left. Cat was fine. Radiator light is probably the sensor going bad in the overflow tank. Not a big deal probably. Unplug the sensor and watch your fluid level from now on is the cheap way. Steering/AC is not my forte.

jiggawha1 10-08-2011 07:02 PM

The Coolant resevoir is a common issue with the sensor alerting you coolant is low when in fact it is not.

04RX8TX 10-08-2011 09:38 PM

Ok really weird now!!

Remember how i though cat was clogged cause it wouldnt rev.
well, just took car on 90 and opened it up redlined etc,

and bam! now my check engine light went off.
and the car revs without any hesitation.

what happened?

J8635621 10-08-2011 10:00 PM

Have you changed the plugs and coils yet? I'd do that ASAP with any 8 unless you know the owner did it in the last 10k or so miles.

04RX8TX 10-08-2011 10:11 PM

Plugs were changed 2 weeks ago, and mazda said coils were replaced 1 year and half ago.

J8635621 10-09-2011 08:12 AM

That's not a mileage.

gunfyter 10-09-2011 09:31 PM

My car had an engine replacement 30K ago by Mazda, so I am certain the plugs wires and coil are that old too.... Maybe Ill get myself that for Christmas....

9krpmrx8 10-09-2011 09:36 PM

Coils are hit or miss but I would change them every 30k, plugs should be changed once a year unless you rarely drive it. Don't forget the wires too.

Threw 2 codes today. Cat is Clogged as expected. but also got a p2070 tuning valve stuck.

Sea foam will not reach the ssv and as told before driving on a clogged cat will damage your engine. As for sea foaming, better disconnect the cat from the header or you are going to create more damage than you might already have...

04RX8TX 10-10-2011 08:57 PM

looks like im going to take off intake and blast carb cleaner in.
1 member did and said it fixed his stuck ssv.

Sounds like a great idea, use about two cans to really get er' done.

04RX8TX 10-10-2011 09:21 PM

^ Don't no whether your being serious or joking lol.
but yea seems like a plan.

Getting cat chopped off tomorrow Morning.
then will come home and take off intake will post pics / results when done.

9krpmrx8 10-10-2011 09:26 PM

I'm not being serious, that is the dumbest shit I have ever heard and there is a good chance you will flood it. You need to pull it out and clean it properly. Have you even checked the SSV to see if it is stuck? Search for the thread on how to remove and test it.

SEARCH MAN!!

04RX8TX 10-10-2011 09:45 PM

lmfao!

Yea man 3 people on here sprayed the carb cleaner in and it worked.
supposedly on the 4 port you can move ssv with fingers.

I will get it done right according the the 1 thread. that your talking about.
that 1 made the most amount of sense to me any way.

Grungepup 10-11-2011 10:17 AM

just take off the intake .... and spray zoom zoom clean right into the throttle body as your buddy is revving it up

Dude, I would seriously take a step back and just stop working on your car.....at little research goes a LONG way. Or better yet tell us after you blow a can (or 2) of Carb cleaner through it.:icon_no2:

04RX8TX 10-11-2011 09:15 PM

Pissed off.

Driving 8 today switched to manual mode whole car locks up and slides to stop.
