New RX Owner in SA

Hello all,

Just purchased my Rx8 last week, 2009 Touring with 22k miles, just in time for snow , look forward to meeting a lot of you and working on my 8. Been reading the forums for a few months before making my decision and many of you have been very helpful fyi.

Out of curiosity does anyone know of reputable shops around SA? I am looking to replace my wheels and may need some rolling most likely drop her some as well and do not know anyone around town.

welcome man!

some of us could help you out with springs/coilover installs, we've done plenty of them before.
I'll pm you the number of the guy who rolled/pulled my fenders. Does a good job and doesn't charge a lot like most people do.

I am thinking about buying a 2004 RX8 next week. Any suggestion of where to take it to get prebuy inspection and regular maintenance? I have been taking my cars to Eurasian Auto just north of the airport.

If you are buying a 2004 and are not sure if the engine has been replaced then pay for a compression test at North Park Mazda. Ask for Sean Anton and request that Jose (member here) work on it. If you buy an 04' with higher mileage and do not do a proper inspection then you are asking for trouble. If you are serious about it bring the car by and I will give it a once over to see if I spot any of the known issues. Also budget for plugs (80.00), wires (60.00), and ignition coils ($130.00).

I have bought a car from this dealer before. So I know that when I do the financing they will offer extended warranty. I was surprised by this last time and simply declined. But I am a little paranoid about the engine failure problems I have been reading about on the RX8.

An 04 with more that 100k miles? NO NO NO.... I got rid of my 04 GT last summer after it went over 100k. No engine warranty on that one...

There will be no extended warranty beyond 100,000 miles. Stay away, you can get a low mileage 04' for pretty cheap.

How about this 06 with 31K miles? Salvage title because it was stolen. The Carfax shows an odometer issue. Will mazda honor the warranty?

Nope, salvage title voids warranty. What is your budget?
