New here!

Hey everyone!
I just bought my 'new' 8 last night from a place in Bonham TX. Let's just say I wouldn't want to live there. Velocity Red GT and I'm so happy!! It has the moisture in the tails and for some reason this morning a CEL showed up, but I'm taking it to get checked out Saturday morning so I can take advantage of the Lemon law if need be and have them replace the tails under warranty.

No rough idle, no weakness that I can tell. I wouldn't think a bad battery would cause it, but maybe? The used car dealership I bought it from didn't replace the battery on it so it's VERY weak. And I still have 8k left on the bumper to bumper warranty and 18k on the power train warranty. I tried to get to the dealership that's close to my house this morning, but they were booked all day today so I made an appt. for Saturday and they said they'd go ahead and look over the car and replace the tails...or at least remove 'em dry them out and put a new gasket in.

Do you have the names of these shops?

Yeah I found this sticky about 10 minutes ago and had a quick look over it and the tails are really the only thing I notice. I'll check to make sure i have I guess the N reflash...if it's still on that letter. Thanks for quick responses and helpful posts by the way

Well the CEL turned out to be the gas cap issue so I know about that now. But I noticed the tranny grinds if i shift quickly. Not poorly, just quickly. You shouldn't have to wait a full second before upshifting...I might expect it for downshifting, but not upshifting.

Mileage? year? Have all recalls been performed?

When i bought mine, i had very slight grinding when shifting at high rpm's into 3rd and 4th. After about 3 months it was to the point i couldnt shift to 3rd or 4th above 7k rpms cuz it got so bad. Keep close attention to the grinding, it will only get worse and do NOT ignore it. When it gets to the point when you can replicate the grinding at will, take it in to dealership, is covered under warranty. I got 3rd and 4th gear replaced, smooth as silk afterwards.

...oh and be sure to search here for the best dealerships to deal with, some will give you runaround. Mazda service sux as a whole.

IT's an 04 with 42,XXX miles. I've noticed that after about 20 minutes of driving the 3rd to 4th grind happened every time. So it's at the dealership right now, which seems to be a good one, and they are taking a few days on it and are doing something to the transmission. Since it's Sunday nobody is there to tell me exactly what they are doing, but I know that they dropped to tranny, so they should definitely see shards of metal.

In the mean time I've been driving the civic that i'm trying to sell...it's depressing and I miss the 8 so bad!
