Won't have my poor baby back til around Halloween

And until then I have to drive around a Chevy Aveo with power nothing, it has 4 wheels, an engine, steering wheel, and a radio

Smooth, I hope

Everyone keeps telling me to "watch out" and to actually get a new engine and not a rebuilt one...Apparently the rebuilds they do in the US are utter crap.

No, it means you better get comfy in that Aveo that you're in. Some guy is on his 5th engine right now. All the reman replacements crapped out and he finally got one from Japan after months of headache.

Most common thing is to get a reman and tear it down and do it right.
