Need a Good Rotary Guy in Dallas

Just got my 09 RX-8 GT ad I would like to find a good rotary mechanic in Dallas to take her to. I guess the dealer would work but I would rather go to someone with a bunch of experience with thesethings.

Any ideas?

I believe there are at least a couple of people that specialize in rotary engines around the DFW area. However, if your not getting your car tuned, tricked out, etc, what exactly would be the point of using their services.

There are also several good dealerships in the area. Myself, and several others use Classic of Denton. My service consultant is Ramsay, and he is awesome. Aaron is also a good consultant there. Several people also swear by Town North Mazda, though there have a been a couple compliants with their service recently. I believe Freeman of Irving should also be decent, but am unaware of anyone that uses them. I would stay away from Hiley of Hurts at ALL costs. Not only will the service be poor, but they will try to rip you off.

For a specialist on rotaries, check out Rotary Performance (www.rx7.com) they are in Garland. They work on all types of rotary engines including the 8.

I HIGHLY recommend them!!! Chris and Ari are rotary god's and have been in the business for a long time..

If you are still under warranty, I have personally had great experience with Town North Mazda. Penny is my service advisor and reccomend her as well.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum... if you have any other questions, dont hesitate to send me a PM. You should also try and make it out to a local meet sometime. A lot of good information is shared and always bound to be a good time

Yes I see Scott (987HYS) recommended Town North Mazda as well as I told you awhile back. Hell he would know a lot more than I about TNM since hes been going there for awhile, ive only been like twice and Michael Rhea is my service advisor, he has been nothing short of amazing.

Brian D. Cain Is also a rotary god as well, I havent had met him in person yet but ive talked to him over the forums and on facebook about his business and I plan to help him a little over the summer.

Rotary Performance in Garland is another amazing place to go, Ive met Chris once or twice (not sure if he'd remember me) and Ari is going to be fixing my Racing Beat exhaust soon (Tip is cracked, Racing Beat is sending a whole new tip to be welded). I should be going to Rotary Performance soon before or after the Texas 8 state meet to get my exhaust fixed and possibly a coolant flush.

suprise* lol and its all good, I really didnt hear what happened. I heard it through the grapevine from Jew. Im sad to see the Rotary leaving you, and you dropping a V8 in it. I suppose it will be beast though goodluck man.

Why no 3 rotor? lol Id assume it would be as $$$ as the fabrication you would need to fit that V8 in it no? Not to meantion all the ECU rewiring etc...

Ahh, true true... makes sense... Well you've got ALOT of tuning to do. What are you going to do about the glass tranny the 8 has or the digital gauges in the 8? You obviously wont have a 9K rpm redline, Will you even be able to use the stock gauges or no? Seems like alot of trouble to put a V8 in the 8 just to get it moving to swap out all the wires, ECU gauges etc again when you put another Rotary in there...

the tranny will be for sale as soon as i get it out.... and yes i will be able to use all the stock gauges.... if i build it like i build some race motors i could get pretty close but no... i wont have that redline anymore... but i will know where it is on the gauge....
