I'm really want to trade in my 03' eclipse for an 05' Winning Blue GT. I owe about 22,600 and was wondering if any dealer would even think about trading with me? I only have 22,000 miles on the car. I'm pretty much tired of the eclipse and just wanna get rid of the thing. Some of my friends say I should just keep the car and ride it out. What would you guys if you were in my situation?

 

This is what I would do. If dealer wont pay off what you owe then figure out what its worth and sell it to someone for that price. Then you could get your 8.

 

keep it or lose a lot of money trading it in. I tried trading in my 8 a while back thinking that if I got something less expensive it would help out my new wife and I, after a few attempts at different dealerships I figured out it would be a huge mistake. So ride it out, buy some toys (wheels, whatever) for it to make it more exciting or something

 

It's up to you, just know you are going to take a huge hit in trading in your current ride as I'm sure you are upside down in it. A dealer would have know problem in taking your trade, but just know they will roll over your debt into the new loan.

 

Drive it to the ground...pay it off, and rest from the payments for a while. Then you may be able to get a mint used RX8 with low mileage or something along those lines. In the meantime, your Mitsu would have provided you with relatively cheap transport for a few years. If you can pay it off sooner than your loan term, and have no early pay-off penalty, by all means send extra money. However, it is not worth to take the hit of depreciation for ANY car, no matter how bad you want it.

I guess I should just ride it out. By that time they should come out with the mazdaspeed.
