My fun day.

I had a great day yesterday. Get a call from Jeff Hass Mazda saying that they got a Grand Touring 8 in. I go down there. Its a Titanium Black on black leather only 4k miles and manual. Exactly what I wanted. I find out what I can get with trading in my auto 8 for it. It ends up I would have to pay 7500 to get the car. Not bad seen as I had an auto and it has 11k miles on it (both cars are 04's)

I find out about the car, it was bought back on goodwill becuase of the overstaement of HP. No damage done to the car.

I call my dad, he likes the deal. So I secure the car and make the downpayment to make sure it doesn't sell. End day at dealer at 4:30 pm or so.

Saturday: Wake up at 8:30 to get to the dealer for my sexy beast. My dad brother and some friends drive down there to get the car. We sit from 10- ~11:30 when finally we are talked to. My dad writes the check (couldnt get that much money into my bank on short notice) and he has to get back home. At this time (even though they new I was comming becuase they called me at 9 ) the car still hasnt been cleaned. finally around 1:00 or so after signing one more paper and waiting the car is ready. My friend who is an avid car fan and is going to be an automotive engineer walks out and looks at the car and says " there is a lugnut missing from the back tire."

WTF

they do their inspection. they cleaned the car.... and there is a lugnut missing. We tell the guy. And he says ok we will fix that up. He comes back saying I dont know how long this will take I hope we can get it done before 7 and the service center closes but it may be Monday. -----------Wait----------- This is a lugnut we are talking about. Why is it taking that long to pu a lugnut in. So we decide to go eat. Get a call saying it will be ready by 3:30. We decide to go back at 3:00. My frined wants to take a look at the car when it is lifted up. We talk to the guys at front so they dont get pissed we are there. and walt ot where the car is. They are hammering the lugnut in. My friend says why are you hammering that. They give us something about threading and other stuff. I didnt actually here to explain it. (I dont know if this is true so it would be nice if someone could explain this to me or if I was being Bullshitted) 3:40 the car is down and we get in to go home. Driving down I-10 pushing the car a little to hear if anything is wrong, sounds fine. Get further down I-10 My brother and another friend in the back hear a weird noise. Comming from the tire. We decide to turn around. On our way back it gets noticably worse, that my frined and I in the front can hear it. And my friend who was driving the car said the car started vibrating. Great.

Get back, tell them what is going on. Apparently the service center really closes at 4. Now I am stuck with a mazda 6 until monday and I have no clue what is up with my car. I should have told them I wanted my old 8 until they fixed this on. Ended the day at about 5 when I got home.

That is my story. I hope I can add pictures of my new 8 to this thread soon to cheer myself up.

Glad you got the one you want. WTF were pounding that lug for! I think they were BSing you! Could be the reason for the vibrating. Let us know how it comes out. Definately post the pics!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I have had some problems with Jeff Haas myself. I purchased my car there and got a good price, but I had to make sure I was looking over their shoulders and asking the right questions in order to get decent customer service. I hope it all works out for the best.....

OK the hammering the lugnut in is plain wrong, ill say they were trying to rethread the stud or lugnut which is not safe at all.. ill say go back and tell them to do it right, a lugnut should be put with your fingers until is tight enough and you can hand tight them no more, then you should use air or whatever wrench.. also try to take out the lug nut that they hammer in, i bet that it wont come off.. the vibration/noise could be from the lug nuts not been tight, it could have been the rims wabling and hitting the hub while you was driving..

It would take 20 minutes to pull the rotor and replace the stud. Hammering is no good, I am with DFW they probably were trying to fix some threads that were messed up. Make sure you are able to remove that nut when you get it back.

Got my car yesterday, then spent the day learning to drive it (boy was that fun XD)

When I got there I asked for an inventory report of what they did to it. It seems the first time they replaced the stud in the rear wheel (maybe that is what they were hammering?) and the second time they replaced the tires (didn't look new but whatever)

But, when I was looking at the car to see if I noticed any dammge from the hammering or something there was a nice scratch where someone managed to hit into me or something and not tell anyone. It seems that it left the service center fine. Needless to say both the guy who sold me my car and the head service dude were both royally pissed. Now I get to go back on Thursday for them to touch it up and I lose my car for an undetermined amount of time again =[

Ill post pictures as soon as I go back to my parents and take some.

Bro you cant hammer in a stud man, it comes from the inside out(middle of the car, towards the outter part).. So do what Coop said and try taking off the lug nuts to make sure that you can, you dont want to be stuck trying when you get a flat..

You might want to get a Carfax report on this thing.

get used to not having your 8 from time to time...its gonna happen and we all go through it. i think we should start up a support group for when 8's owners lose their car for repairs, wrecks, etc.
