Motorsports Ranch Houstom is coming (this fall)
Just a message for all of the track/road race junkies out there. Motorsport Ranch Houston closed the deal and will be starting contruction this week.
As the announcement below states they hope to have members on the track this fall.
see the announcement below or visit their website for more details http://www.msrhouston.com/
It is a done deal. We have finally closed on the land that will be the long awaited MotorSport Ranch, for the Houston and the South Texas Region. The property is 381 acres located on County Road 48, just east of Hwy 288, 35 miles south of downtown Houston. Our current track design features over two and quarter miles of track. It is easily divided into a short and long track . Two pit road areas and the ability to run the tracks in both directions makes for a very versatile environment in which to have fun. We have a rendering on this website.
We will start moving dirt within days and if everything goes well, we will have cars on track in early fall.
As we have always said, we will put down track and storage for our members and grow from there. We are in the process of finalizing a clubhouse design and we will keep you in the loop and be anxious to hear your comments.
We are updating our entire website to reflect the fact that we are no longer merely a great idea but now, truly, THE REAL DEAL!!! To that end we want all the people who have followed our struggles to get behind us and help make this a success. If you want to belong to the coolest motor sport happening to ever hit South Texas now is the time to join. We are now taking membership applications.
We have spoken with many people who have expressed an interest in relocated or opening a new business at the Ranch. Now is the time to contact us and get in on the planning stages.
Thanks for the continued support,
The Staff and Owners of the Motorsport Ranch of Houston, Texas
**note - This complex is being built for serious road and track enthusiasts. Please no whining or bitching about the cost of membership or any of that nonsense. If you can't pay... you can't play go find some cheaper toys. :D

I am sure there will be some DE events and schools that will be open to the general public, but it will probably cost in the range of $250 to put all four wheels on the track for a few sessions. Still not a bad deal compared to prepping a track car with performance mods and safety equipment. I now guys who pay over $200 in track fees, and the most they will run is maybe an hour. I knew a guy who paid for a weekend of racing, had engine problems during qualifying, and then got stuck in the mud on the first lap and had to watch the whole race from his car trackside, they didn't pull him out until after the race was over, and no refund.

Motorsport Ranch Houston?
I may be late but... anyone else looking forward to this as much as me? Maybe, when it's finished, we can get some club deal going?

Negotiations have already been initiated (actually they started about 18 months ago) for club events/discounts. Don't expect anything until early 2006. The first few months are most liekly going to be strictly members only I ws told.

NASA Schools at MSR are 250, in your own car. the next cheapest schools are in the 600 range and are not accredited.
if I have a membership at MSR, dose that mean I need another one at MSR-Houston?

Though it will likely be a long time before I can afford afford such a membership I'm happy to see that the owner was succesful with his venture up here in North Texas when everyone told him that he would fail.

I was out there two weeks ago, they had 2/3 width of the asphalt laid. I got to go around the track at about half speed riding in a Lamborghini Gallardo. The track is going to be great for high HP cars, and it is a technical track, and should be little challenging.

They have an Open House to give members and prospects an opportunity to view the track in coming weekend, November 12th and 13th, from 9:00A.M. to 4:00P.M.. You will be able to take a ride at touring speed and be one of the first to see our state-of-the-art facility. Bring the whole family for food, drinks, music, and fun. Please call Kim (713-962-1247) or Jerry (281-787-7716) for more information
