MOD's or whoever..

I'm not trying to start problems or anything but i just had a few questions and i would LOVE it if someone could answer them...

1- why did the austin threads get closed? i know there were some off topic posts but some people have real stuff to ask about and to post to inform other people about. can you open on at least so more information can be given and asked about?

2- why do the administrators or whoever care one bit about how many posts anyone has enough to disable them in this forum? as far as i was concerned its just a number. does having 1 post or 5,000 posts make anyone more special or smarter or anything than anyone? i dont think so. when i see that someone has 50 posts i think ok they are either new or they like to lurk and only reply or start threads every once in a while. then looking at someone with 50,000 posts i think ok they have alot of time on there hands and reply to lots of threads.

3- as long as we arent cluttering up this forum with like 10 tuesday night meet therads why cant we keep the one open that we have and go from there? that thread is useful it lets everyone know what time and where and all that and kinda lets everyone know if everyone is showing up or if no one is showing up. and it lets the people who read it know how much FUN we have and makes them want to come out and join! whats wrong with that?

i guess thats all i can think of. i just figured you guys would want a strong group of 8 owners (and friends) that can get more people to know about the club and join and spread the word about how great this forum is, instead of them changing forums and bad mouthing this one because of moderators with nothing better to do than close a thread because its a lil off topic.

~garlandrx

P.S. This is my 100th post

Post counts were shut off in this forum, and threads closed, because certain people - obviously not you with 100 posts - were using this forum as their own little teenage chat room and admittedly post-whoring, which is against forum rules.

The reason that certain threads were closed was because those same parties were using them to inflate their post counts by thousands, yes thousands of posts. After one of us gets a chance to clean out all the worthless garbage the threads may be reopened.

I apologise that innocent parties had to be affected by this, but forum mods tried several times to get this childish crap to stop and were completely ignoried if not actively defied - so extreme measures were taken to put an end to it since nothing else seemed to work. We love you guys getting together and having fun, and like RX8Club to be a fun place to be be. But this had gone well past the point of pain.

If you would like to discuss this matter further, feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to discuss it with you... but let's let this be the end of any "public debate" on the topic. Thanks.

PS: Congrats on your 100th post.

It's funny that someone with over 7,000 posts would call someone with less than 1/3 of that amount a "post *****". Humorously Ironic isn't it?

Actually you're ALL welcome. I hold no animosity toward anyone, but did what I did as a wakeup call to all of you who've gone around the bend. And it's not just me, but rather several mods and other members who've been complaining about what's been going on in this forum. When the forum mod tried to step in and got flames and ignored then sometimes it falls to me to be the bad guy. Not something I like doing, but comes with the territory.

The threads I temporarilly closed have been reopened, but post counts will remain turned off in this forum indefinitely so that you all can chat away without problems. :D

And as for those of you who chose to personally attack me in public forum, how smart was that? But you'll notice none of you got banned - mostly because I'm not quite the ogre you'd like to think I am. But don't do it again please... attacking mods in open forum is something that will not be tolerated. If you have a gripe in the future, please bring it to me on PM.

Thanks.

thank you too, sir! i retract the macy's day parade remark....for now!:D

i agree though with you in part on closing down some threads...but as for the austin one. that was where i beleive you were wrong. but NO said it best and all is fixed. i could care less about my post count. yeah its was fun from time to time to try and boost it just to go against friends....but this is a forum where we can all comunicate about alot of things freely and with out having to do a massive conference call everyday! we have become good friends and i plan on comunicating with these friends when ever i feel and this weebsite makes that possible.

and i never really liked the colors of on rx8net...to dark and not all up beat and cheery like this site!

POST ON!!!

Well the thread where you all decided to flame me has been "disappeared." To leave it in place would have meant a public rule violation, and I would have had to take action and do some temporary or permanent bans - and I'd rather not do that at this point. So I disappeared the thread instead. Would you rather I bring it back?

More like the rules of forum etiquette and keeping it "readable for info you may want" as an 8 owner.

I was coming back from who knows where on 820 and I saw guy on a bike and his shirt was flying up because of the wind and stuff. It was pretty funny looking and I thought dang, that guy is pale and skinny! I thought it was you Mr. Ed! :D :p LOL, but then I remembered that you hadn't bought your bike yet. TIP: Tuck your shirt in when you ride. :D
