Loss of Power... which dealer

long *** drive to campsite (1 hour) gas @ 1/2 tank, 93 gas, 4 oz premix idemitsu, then there was a part where i have to floor it and get up to speed. then i noticed that when i hit 7000 rpmish my engine dies, but i'll just shift to next gear and let the rpm drop, it will keep going fine.

then after i got home (Empty gas light on) i started to loose power at 3000,4000 rpm depending on if it was a hill/straigh, so i use the lower gear with clutch feathering while revving the engine at about 400 rpm to get home (mazda dealership close today)

i got to a gas station near home, went in, put in 2 gallons of gas(no premix this time, about 5 min of cooling down time for engine) and then on the way home (1mile) i was redlining it all the way... i manage to get to redline and stuff with regular power and no powerloss... wtf is going on, i am planning on taking it in tommorow morning and take the morning off.

where should i take it? and also.. does powertrain warranty cover rental?

Currently at Houston.

Your first part sounds like what I've been getting for a while. If I execute a sharp turn, while flooring it. With the TCS, the engine for no some random reason shuts off for half a sec. I blame it on coils... You don't sound like you should worry that much. My car used to poor oil on start for a month, I worried then for a reason...

Hey dude, I just brought my car into Mazda today and they did a recall on my computers. The recall is because rx8 owners complain about power loss so the reprogram is suppose to spit more oil into the engine? I dont know but after it was done, my car kept dying on idle speeds. If my foot isnt on the gas, the car will shut off. At a red light, my car stalls completely. I quickly U-turned and brought it to the dealer to have them look at it and they gave me a rental car. I dont know whats up?

My foot isnt even on the gas and the car will shut off, but it goes away after 20 miles down the road??? Let me know what the dealer tells you Geforce

Alright so I just got a call today and they said my battery was loose and I need to replace my engine mounts, which they did for me for free. They said everything is running fine now. I do have a aftermarket battery but I didnt think it was loose and would cause my engine to die. This happens right after they serviced my car so they're probably bsing but as long as its working. Also said my clutch needs to be replaced, its been around 47,000 miles. Is this too soon to replace the clutch?

That sound a bit fishy, which dealer did you go to again? I'm at 42 k , hadn't had a problem with the clutch yet. But hey if it's under warranty get it done.

Well I got my car back today and they adjusted the battery and replaced my engine mounts under warranty. My car is now fixed and is running wayyyy better then before. My car is now 10x smoother on idle and everything else. Feels like the car isnt even on. This is prob cause of the new engine mounts but everything is fine now

I've had the same problem where the engine will run fine until you've been on the road for about 15 mins or so, then it will keep speeds on straights but looses power on hills. I took to Mazda they blamed the O2 sensor and the battery. The battery is CCA at 530, it is only 10 months old. The O2 sensor doesn't seem to be damaged, but I am not sure. I took to Donald Craig Mazda in Mooresville, NC. I don't like them, I don't trust them. As a matter of fact I took the car in with engine light blinking. Picked up with ABS DSC and Brake lights on as well. Noticed a missing fuse. Why would they play with that? Poor service.

Anyway, I think my catalytic converter is either gone or about gone and it is plugging the engine. The catalytic converter is extremely hot, more than normal, to the point it burnt some electrical tape around wires that are 8" away from it. Going to take a Meineke to get a different opinion.

Let me know if you have any more useful information.
